I think Kelley gets Stats only. Not the rest of the IU application with EC’s, etc. And then the review request essays if sent.
Does submitting a review request early have any benefit over submitting say in January?
Just an FYI - my D submitted application on September 4 and a petition review request on September 20. She was admitted pre Business on November 27. Nothing from Kelley yet on Review request. It’s been about 10 weeks since submission. Seems kind of long when compared to last year for everything. Based on last year’s thread, Applicants were getting into IU in the middle of October and then about 6 weeks later hearing from Kelley about review request which was about now. Not sure why Kelley is taking so long.
To cocowboy: the petition request review is made on a rolling basis so I would think you would want to get it in as soon as you are able.
Can only compare to last year if this year is intended to be similar and it is not. Kelley is not early action.
There is no benefit but the question is whether there is a reason to delay.
It does not seem like IU or Kelley is processing applications like they did in previous years so we will just have to wait and see what this year brings. We can’t rely on last year thread to anticipate how things will go this year.
Yes agreed.
Kelley’s plan a couple of months ago was to batch decision releases in December and January on petitions aligned with the University hopefully. It seems like the University’s desire to admit superseded the realities for Kelley admissions so you see admits to the University now without Kelley. One alternative, which who knows if this would have been better, was to wait for University admissions. This thread focuses a lot on the other alternative of Kelley speeding up to meet University admissions because that would have been better for us as applicants.
Do you have any idea why IU is taking so long this year to release admission decisions generally? My D applied on September 4. Took them almost 3 months. I know everything is different this year but that seems to be a huge difference than last year. Hopefully the review requests are released soon.
My son expects a better GPA after the first semester over 4.0 (End of December). He has submitted the application for 33 ACT and a 3.96 GPA, which meets Kelley’s DA criteria. He has already improved his ACT to 34. Should he wait till Dec end to submit with an improved GPA or can he go ahead and submit the review request with an improved ACT score?.
He submitted his application on Oct 30th, but haven’t heard from even IU admission yet. Anyone in the same boat?
If you stay pre business freshman year, what are the criteria to be admitted to B school at that point?
You need to apply for standard admission:
Why would you do a review request if the student has already met the Kelley criteria?! Maybe that’s why it’s taking them so long to get through applications!!
Speer, the student would take pre-business classes as a freshman aligned with Kelley curriculum. Maintain B or better grades, apply end of freshman year and wait to find out if actually accepted to Kelly. My sons roommate did this last year, it was very stressful!! He didn’t find out until June 23 his acceptance. He even missed trips with IU friends because he was so worried about not getting in.
Yes standard admission is not an easy alternative path. If your son or daughter get directly into another reputable business school, it would hard to not pick that option.
Completely agree! My daughter has applied for Kelley, including the review request as SAT was only slightly below their requirements. Gpa was much higher. But if she doesn’t get direct she will choose a different school! It’s just too much stress. They already applied once to college, why have to go through that again. She’d love to follow in her brothers footsteps from NJ, but not if not DA.
