IU's science related majors and Pre-Medicine...

Hey

I was wondering if anyone here has any insight on Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, chemistry, microbiology, and so forth at IU? How does it compare with programs at other schools... is it anything that great? I know IU is known more for business/music, but I haven't heard much about the science fields.

How's the pre-med program? I'm hoping to go to med school after undergrad...

Also, would it be too difficult to double major with biology and business (along with premed)? I'm interested in both, and definitely attracted by the reputable IU business program. I don't know how reputable IU journalism is, but I was also maybe considering photojournalism and some science field, along with premed. Is anyone here doing something like that, or just doing premed or biology?

Any information suggestions etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This link explains IU's premed program. There is not a premed major.

IU just opened a new science building this year in an effort to further improve it's standing in sciences. The state of Indiana is really emphasizing the importance of life sciences as a tool for economic growth. IU is part of that vision.

Biology majors are in the College of arts and sciences. Business majors are in the business school. I'm not sure if you can double major in 2 different schools. I would also think it would be a 5 year program. I'm just guessing based upon my the fact that there are at least 90 hours of recommended classes for those interested in premed and tons of hours in business required for a major.

Cool, thanks for the insight. Anyone else? Can someone tell me how IU's premed program or science related fields stack up with other schools?
