I've applied, but did I make the right decision?

Hello,

I just applied to transfer to UT next fall. I made my first choice the college of Undergraduate Studies, and I have 61 hours of credit with a 3.49 GPA from ACC. I'm in Phi Theta Kappa and a member of the American Institute of Architecture Students. I also worked really hard on my essays... so I feel pretty good about my chances of getting accepted. (Still keeping my fingers crossed)

The reason why I applied to the School of Undergraduate studies is because I hope to eventually transfer to the School of Engineering or Architecture. However I was told that because both schools are so competitive (especially the Architecture) I stood a better chance of getting in if I got accepted to UT, waited a year, and then applied as a change of major.

I would have applied directly to the School of Engineering, but don't have my math through Calc 2 at ACC yet... and don't meet the requirement.

I want to go to UT... I guess I'm just having doubts about the way I've gone about this. Is applying as an Undeclared Major then changing to Arch of Engr after a year going to be hard than if I just waited another year/semester at ACC?

Someone reassure me please :(

The way UT does admissions to certain majors, it almost makes you do what you are doing. I don't know the transfer rates for engineering and architecture but I'm guessing they are similar to business in that they have a much higher acceptance rate for internal transfers compared to external.

Have you done the right thing? Probably yes. Acceptance rates are higher and you are at the school you wish to graduate from so all your classes transfer without any drama. Worst case, you don't get in but then you are not out anything since the alternative to applying is staying another year at ACC.

I did the same thing in your shoes. Once I got to UT I changed my mind on what I wanted to do however.

Anyway, good luck!
