Ok, so I received a letter of acceptance from University of Minnesota this morning but am having a hard time translating it. It says I am accepted, but not to the college I applied to. I applied to the college of engineering and instead they accepted me into the college of Liberal Arts. I don't understand why they didn't just say I was not accepted and just let me go on with my life looking toward other colleges. I do not have any AP classes in high school because they were not offered to me, so I am thinking that I may have been placed in Liberal Arts College because of that. Upon further inspection of engineering requirements I saw that there are general requirements called "liberal education" requirements, does this mean I was accepted into the college of Liberal Arts so I could do these requirement classes first then I can begin my classes for my major? But still, I should be taking those general requirement classes at the college of engineering, right? I'm very confused about this situation and would appreciate any kind of feedback on what exactly is happening. Thank you!

Call on Monday to straighten it out.

You’re not accepted to their School of Engineering, meaning that you can’t have an engineering major.

If you still want to do engineering at Minnesota, you probably will have to transfer into their School of Engineering after your first semester.
