I've been "cordially invited"

First of all, I find it kind of weird that there’s not a thread for this created already, because even when it comes to stupid e-mails from Yale and Harvard, everyone’s like “OMGGGGG”.
But yeah, the point of this is, this says that the Regional Director of Admissions and the Associate Dean of Admissions will be there to talk about “the undergraduate life at Penn”.
Has anyone here plan to attend or has anyone been to this info session? If so, do they say anything besides the usual (the kinds of things you can find on the site), and is it that kind of meeting where you’re allowed to ask questions?
I’m trying to determine whether or not it’ll be worth it to go, since it’ll be around a 45 minute drive for my dad.
Thanks.

I do not really understand what you are talking about. Are you referring to a regular information session that is held on Saturday, followed by a tour? If you are talking about that, then you are able to ask questions, but the problem is that the audotorium is going to be really packed and thus you might not even get a chance to ask one question. Forget about asking more than one. But during the tour, a current student gives those, you are allowed to ask questions. I might have asked my tour guide more than ten questions, and I am not joking. I asked various questions to clear some misconceptions up about the school that I had when I did my research, and about the school in general. I wanted to find out information about the school through the eyes of a current student, and it really worked in my opinion. Because I fell in love with the place. In my opinion, it is worth to go there, and a 45 minute drive sounds like music to my ears. I had a little more than two hour drive. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'm sorry for not being clear, I meant to say it's not on campus, it's in a hotel their renting or something.

I have received them a while back. Its nothing special, if you are on their database then you get it.

Im pretty sure every one on the mailing list gets those. I received one a few weeks ago and plan on attending (only a 20 minute drive for me). They are about as close as it comes to an informational session given on the campus. Try and find out if Penn representatives are planning on visiting your school in the next month or two, and if they are you have to make the decision whether it is worth the 90 minute ride. I personally plan on going to my local session even though Penn will be coming to my school.

I KNOW GETTING IT MEANS NOTHING

I just don't know if it's worth going. But I guess that's more of a personal choice, so sry for starting this thread

lol ...

it's worth going. they keep track of these things to gauge your interest.

they do?
somehow, i doubt that...

also, im going up there for family stuff the weekend before my regional session. they're not comparable, are they? like, even tho i just visited, should i go to the regional session?

Lol I love how everyone who has responded is answering the wrong question. The kid isn't asking why or how he got selected to come to this; he's asking whether it's going to be useful.
I recommend going--it will be useful because they will talk about aspects of undergraduate life (duh) and if you haven't visited it should give you a good idea of how life at Penn is (what kind of unique programs they have, etc.).
