ive got some questions...

heyy everyone,

im goin to be in rutgers college c/o '10 and i plan to double major in marketing & accounting and minor in french/psych (not sure yet) and im goin 2 the orientation this sat. so i was just wonderin if i can ask some questions 2 clear things up [sry, but this might be long]

1st of all, since i plan 2 double major in business majors, will this be really difficult?? personally, im interested in marketing, but my parents want me 2 get a cpa 2 have somethin 2 fall back on n more job opportunities. i read on the ru website that 2 double major in business i need 2 go thru some type of process 1st 2 get the permission? is it hard 2 do this, like do i need a certain gpa?

2nd, ru itself and other threads suggest that we just take 4 classes, includin expos. i took the ap lit exam but im really not sure if i get 2 skip expos or not, so wat shud i do? this is the same w. calc ab.. not so much w. the french b/c i KNOW i did horriblye on the ap.. in this case, shud i take expos, calc 1 (since i probably need it 4 the bus. school), some type of french, and i guess psych? o and related 2 this is that since i plan 2 double major, should i take 5 classes then? [altho ill also be doin work-study and plan on joining at least a few clubs] if i really do have 2 take 5 classes, will i have any free time at all??

3rd, from the packet we got about the orientation, there was a flyer about FIGS. is it worth it?

4th, [and lastly, i promise], is anyone else goin 2 the orientation this sat. who's interested in bus. like me? so far i only know 1 person from my school whose last name is part of n-z but hes not goin in2 bus. if you are, message me so i can facebook you or w.e

kudos + much thanks 2 anyone who read all/parts of this :]

Hey--

I'm not an expert on business or I would help you out w/ your questions. I would wait until saturday to get your questions answered-- when you schedule, there will be someone from academic services there and they'll be qualified enough to answer your Q's (if not, a dean will get back to you.)

If you get a 4 or a 5 on the AP test, you get credit. Ap lit does NOT give credit for expos... it gives credit for a literature class. AP lang gives credit for expos. So you'll need to take expos first semester. You'll only need to take calc 1 if you get a 3 or lower on the calc exam (which you don't know now... so you'll just sign up for calc anyway). If you get out of calc, they'll put you in one of the alternates you sign up for.

By the way-- did you take the placement test for french? If you don't get credit from the AP, you'll at least go into some sort of higher level french... probably 131 or 132 (the intermediate level).

I took a FIGS my first semseter and didn't find it terribly useful. However, there are worse ways to earn a credit and you're basically guaranteed to pass. (it's graded pass/fail). In your situation, it's probably useful to take a FIGS in business.

Maybe I'll see you Saturday-- I'm a red shirt :)

thanks SO much 4 the help supermtt, and yes i did take the french placement exam and it was MUCH easier than the ap exam, but i was also sick that day and left the placement exam early so i don't know if it made a big difference or not.

i'll def be sure to ask these questions on sat.
