Ive gotta get outa here

Hello,

Im attending La Salle University in Philadelphia and this is the wrong college. I got a scholarship from them and my parents thought it would be a good idea to come here. When I visited the campus I didn't like it right away. On the freshmen opening weekend I made friends and went partying and had a good time. But during my days there nothing to me was appealing. Now I'm not sitting in my room crying my pants off, im not homesick, I just genuinely don't like my surroundings or where I am. Its only been a week and I am more than ready to get out of here cause I know that if i don't I will most probably go insane and do something really stupid. Im not depressed or anything I just can't see myself studying at this location. When I visited other campuses I really like most of them and felt a place of belonging, days here felt like months. At this point I just feel trapped in a cage.

Anyways, I was thinking of transferring out and going to nova community college to continue my education there and then transfer out to a Virginia school for my sophomore year. Any advice?

Coming from the parent of a soph transfer:

Take a breath and give it some time, a week is a pretty short time.

I don’t know the VA system, does UVA take soph CC transfers or just jr transfers like the UC system in CA?

Your academic record is important. Are you really sure that you couldn’t do well there academically for a sem or year? Since you’re on a scholarship, I’d assume you’re at the top of your class and should be able to do well. The problem is that you likely are not able to withdraw now without consequences as far as cost and your academic record.

I completely understand where you are coming from and I know that being at a school you hate is totally horrible. I knew within the first to days that I was not at the right school for me. My best advice is to try and have fun, make friends, and apply to your CC and other Virginia state schools. I know W&M offers a spring transfer option for freshman and I’m sure that George Mason does too! You will be fine and everything will work out! Good luck!

Thanks guys for the responses,

I am currently going to be Withdrawing from this college saving my parents and I a lot of money. I would rather do good somewhere else I feel comfortable at then do bad somewhere I absolutely despise. Or worse, get all Fs and force myself to Withdraw from the course wasting my parents a big amount of money.
