i've read about a thousand, so here's my go

my bad, i just created a new one- sorry hugeuge2k

its all good.

to the person who said they know a montclair person.

montclair is all a crapshoot in terms of grades. some teachers are a breeze, others are impossible; even for the same class. iv had my fair share of sleepers, then also a fair share of all nighter takin classes. nothing is certain at MTC. thats how we roll.

mad delayed sorry. but some things have changed since last posting and im almost set on applying early to UVA. Does this increase my chances at all or is it still a big reach?

dont know why everyone is saying mich is a reach

it is very very easy to get in there as it is all a points system

as long as you apply early along in the rolling admission process and have over a 1250 which you clearly do and over a 94 which you clearly do, you are in

in terms of uva out of state, definately apply early. it is a rech as it is very tough to get in OOS but if you really wanna go there, go for it. I am a current student at UVA and recommend it highly.

there are many brilliant kids from va who end up going to uva but they do not apply early as they apply to harvard yale princeton, etc

therefore the applicant pool is not nearly as competitive ED plus you are showing a strong interest toward the school.

Mich has rolling admissions-apply asap, its kinda first come first serve and tougher for out of state but you have a great shot; look at the honors program. Columbia is a reach even with ed and legacy; legacy doesn't help that much, more of a tip factor. I think you might try Cornell, Chicago and Carnegie Mellon as well.

avoid chicago and carnegie mellon if you value a social life

the adcoms won't like your low AP scores.

how did you score so low in the AP's?

Looking at your SAT scores, you are definately a critical thinker. Did you become lazy towards the end of the year?...

yea i slacked off big time at the end of junior year. i figured that i wouldnt use the ap scores to get credit in college because i would wanna take every class i was interested in, even from the basic level. i didnt know they were that important in the admission decision. i was under the impression that not that many colleges considered them in admission.

also, the whole college life is a big part of my decision as well as the academics. so i probably wont be applying to colleges notorious for their hardcore studying and crazy classes.
