My essays are good, people tell me they're creative and humorous. (plan on working on it)
Reccs should be good (pending)

Some Schools (and i know a lot of reaches):
1. Duke (possibly ED)
2. UVA ( i know im OOS)
3. U penn
4. U mich
5. Johns Hopkins
6. Rutgers (safety)

Than a bunch of reaches, such as brown, dartmouth, columbia (legacy), maybe princeton, maybe UNC chapel hill.

Thanks for all your feedback.

............

i'd say mich is a match for you. duke and penn would be reaches, though you might want to get your coach to advocate for you. not familiar with the rest, sorrY.

thanks anyway.
oh and i forgot to list summer activities nothing major:
- Weston Science Scholars Program (local community college picks about 35 hs kids with good grades and stuff)
- Studied at University of Salamanca in Spain for a month (recieved college creds)
- Worked in an orphanage in the countryside of south korea for about two weeks (not one of those fancy programs)

Also was a National Merit Semi-Finalist for the psat or whatever
and my bro went to mit if that makes a difference

Duke (possibly ED)- rejected

U penn- rejected

U mich- maybe?

Johns Hopkins- maybe?

Rutgers (safety)- accepted

U penn, I'd say reach, not 100% reject.

....any thoughts on uva?

Thoughts on UVA/UNC: Good luck

Could you tell me your Michigan GPA? This will help me find your chances. Here's how you figure it out.

Take out freshman year grades
Take out non-academic classes
Take out grade boosts
Take out pluses and minuses

Man, you guys are mad. He's got great stats, ECS, and what sounds like some good essays & recs. The only problem I have with the list is that it seems like you're going for the most prestigious options and are therefore lacking in the so-called "matches". Here are my predictions:

Duke (possibly ED) - reach

UVA ( i know im OOS) - reach

U penn - are you applying to wharton? if so, reach. otherwise, match.

U mich - match

Johns Hopkins - reach/match

Rutgers (safety)

You might want to cut down on the brand-name schools and look for some more practical choices. There's this huge gap between the top schools and your safety.

Duke (possibly ED) - WL or Accept

UVA ( i know im OOS) - Accept

U penn - WL

U mich - Accept

Johns Hopkins - Accept

Rutgers - Accept

yea it does seem strange that im applying to a lot of tough schools but they are the schools i visited, spoke to people about, and genuinely liked. as for my safety, rutgers, everyone from my school gets into rutgers and its also a good school. as for mich gpa post, i dunno prob like 3.7 unweighted im not really sure what you meant. well thanks for all your opinions.

one more question, will it be easier to get into columbia (legacy and ed) or duke just ed. I know theyre both major reaches but wanna know which i have a better shot at.

UPenn is not a match! Are you on crack xoverseas?

no ur UMich is lower bc u take out ur freshman year...now what is it? if its lower than 3.7, no go. otherwise u have a shot.

Yeah, a 3.7 unweighted is low for Michigan, because when they take out your non-academics as well as pluses/minuses, and freshman year, you will be too low to have it be a match. I'd say it's a match, because you still have solid test scores.

For UMich, also consider that an A- is the same as an A, so if that's an issue, your uMich GPA might be slightly better than you think. I like your chances there.

Also, the grades at Montclalir High are wayyyy inflated. (no offense, I have a friend there who sleeps through class and gets all As. And believe me, she's no genius)

i'm a junior looking to go to wharton or University of Chicago or Columbia

Math- 800
Reading-730
Writing-750

Freshman year- 2 B's (Spanish, math)- does freshman year count?
Sophomore- All A's
Captian of DECA Quiz Bowl team and Consumer Bowl Team- South Jersey Champions in my first year
DECA- 1st in the state International Business Plan
DECA- fourth in the state E-Commerce
70 hourse community service
one year of JV baseball, one year of JV and V baseball
15+ hours of work (bank), sports, and community service per week FOR MY JUNIOR YEAR

please provide some input

forgot to mention i plan to ED at wharton

You should make your own thread instead of hijacking this one. :) (you're new, so the terrorist act is forgiven)
