I've withdrew from UCD before receiving my dismissal letter...now what?

Hi,

I’ve submitted my withdrawal letter to the registrar office a day before receiving my academical dismissal letter from the CBS Dean’s Office via email. Here is what happened prior to this mentioned conclusion.

I was a transfer student and got into UCD for the Fall 2011 quarter. At the end of that quarter, I did really bad and got a 1.20 GPA. As a result, I got the “subject to disqualification” status and got reinstated for the Winter 2012 Quarter. However, as far as things go, my family associated problems didn’t really improved and to top it off, I’ve also undergo depression and shock because my paternal grandfather was diagnosed with colon cancer and passed away–all taken place within just 3 months. Although it wasn’t a death in family ( as in parents or siblings) but having been raised and lived alongside with my paternal grandparents for the first 9 years of my childhood (since birth)-- my paternal grandfather is somewhat like a father figure/grandfather to me and I felt closer to him than I’ve ever did with my biological father. Also, due to financial reasons, and how my older sister–who served as my major financial provider while I am attending school-- is about to be out of work due to the termination of her work contract by the end of this year, I’ve decided to withdrew from UCD so that I can enroll myself into a career college with hopes of achieving a certificate to work as either pharmacy tech/medical assistant so that I can work and find money while my sister will be unemployed and looking for a new job by the end of the year.

Hence, my question is, do I really need to appeal?

I did thought about withdrawing prior to the beginning of the current quarter at UCD and have tried to contact my Dean adviser as soon as the end of winter quarter-- knowing how i didn’t fare so well on the exams and all-- but there were no responses and even when she did responded, I still can’t come in to see her because they have to go through the list of students who were also on “subject to academic disqualification” status. She just told me to wait but I was really dying for some sort of real and detailed answers sbecause academic wise, I didn’t fare so well like I’ve used to be and with all of the family conflicts and stuffs, I felt “stuffed”.

If I don’t appeal, can I still apply to a career college? I was thinking of going to career college to get a certificate, then work and retake the ochem course at a community college to fix the poor grades that I’ve received and then maybe transfer to a different UC. Will all of these be possible at all?

Thanks for taking your time and patience in reading through all of my little conflicts. Btw, sorry for such a long post given that it’s my first post and all :)
