Okay so my counselor told me with my credentials my course load and if i can get a 33-34 on the ACT I should be able to get into an Ivy or two. I currently have a 31 on the ACT but i have a 28 sub score on the English. I'm fairly confident if i study this summer i can get that up to a 34 or so for the sub score. Would this be enough for me to get into any ivies? I am thinking I may apply Harvard (for kicks) Brown, Dartmouth, Yale (for kicks) and the Penn (not Wharton) along with like 12 other colleges and universities that i have better chances at. Also Uchicago as a super reach. Anyone think I could get in. Here are my stats Gpa is kinda low i know.

Alright I feel like typing a long one. I don’t know how competitive your school is or how many it sends to ivies each year, but counselors often have a tendency to exaggerate one’s chances - often to simply motivate you to apply.

I’m not so sure your chances are too good, starting with your GPA/rank. An UW GPA of a 3.7 is definitely on the low side and you’re also not even in the top 5% of your class. The most important aspect of the application is one’s GPA/rank, and it’s clear that you’re lacking there. Try and do your best 1st semester of senior year, and I would maybe wait on applying to any top schools for EA/ED and instead do all RD.

Your ACT score is also low, so you definitely need to raise it to have at least some chance. A 33 is an absolute minimum, but you should really shoot for 34+. Have you tried the SAT? Some people do significantly better on one test over the other, so it may be worth signing up for once or twice next year. Also you didn’t mention subject tests? Harvard, Dartmouth, and certain other top schools require 2 subject tests regardless if you’re sending in the ACT or SAT. The list of colleges requiring them becomes a lot larger though if you end up sending the SAT. Check with each of the college’s websites.

Your ECs are pretty good with plenty of solid leadership and continuity. I’m not so sure any of it really pops out or is particularly unique, but I think it will still be a fairly advantageous aspect of your app. You working 15-20 hours is also impressive when coupled with all your leadership involvement in different clubs and activities, wrestling, etc. You wouldn’t be able to change anything regardless at this point, but you shouldn’t worry since your ECs are quite good.

I don’t want to sound like a downer, but you’re not getting into Harvard or Yale. Even if you got a 36 on the ACT, your GPA/rank is definitely going to hurt your chances at many of these competitive schools. As you probably realize, there are people with 4.0 GPAs and high test scores that would get accepted over you and even more that would get turned down anyway due to the subjectivity of the process, since it often boils down to hooks and unique ECs. You don’t really have any significant hooks and I wouldn’t classify your ECs as something that would majorly set you apart from most of the top applicant pool - but they’re still good ECs. To get an idea of what I’m talking about, you can always check out threads on the stats of people who were accepted/rejected.

Make sure that you get awesome recommendations and write stellar essays. Don’t stress too much and good luck!

What does that even mean?
You’re an upcoming senior right? I didn’t see anything that indicated differently, and you reinforced it by saying things like “VP Stuco as a senior”, “NHS Historian since Junior Year”, etc.
Regardless, everything I said still applies. You’re welcome lol
