General chances at Ivies. Help!

I am a senior and am currently looking for schools to apply to.

I was looking into Brown and Columbia (among a lot of other schools of course) and I wanted to ask you guys if I should even bother filling out the application for the ivies.

I have a 3.8 GPA (bad freshmen year but only 2 B's soph + junior year) but my sat scores (taking in october) will most likely be 2000-2100 (not the greatest x_x). My sat II scores are 620 in US history and 680 in Literature (not the greatest either, lol). I took two AP classes my junior year and am currently taking 3 my senior year. I have "ivy level" extracurriculars/leadership, but my academics could obviously be better.

I know these aren't the best of stats, but will I not even considered a qualified applicant if I were to apply to brown and columbia?
I just want to know because I have so many other applications to fill out and I don't want to waste my time and effort if I won't even be considered for admissions. Please be honest, but not too mean!

Thanks for your response!

I think it depends, as always, with the Ivies. I know someone who had stats similar to yours, but she had crazy extracurriculars, and she got accepted into Yale.

Your academics will probably put you at a disadvantage, like you said, but if your extracurriculars really are ivy-level (and beyond), you should have as good of a shot as anyone.

what are your ECs, if you don't mind me asking?

I agree with AiLove. GPA isn't too bad cause Ivies are expecting some B's but realize that your competition will be with many applicants with perfect 4.0/4.0 and much better SAT scores. Yet that doesn't mean to give up hope.

A word of advice, with those scores, I'm hoping you have a set of really amazing ECs to be a great applicant.

Btw, applicants of your status are qualified but you have to make yourself seem more qualified than the applicants with 2300+ and national competition awards.

Best of luck! ~ rice_boy

Unless you have a mind blowing essay or hook, I'd say your chances are pretty slim.
