I know these are good scores, but the Ivys are Competetive. Has anyone with these scores or lower gotten in to an Ivy or similar eg. Stanford, MIT, Caltech? I'm curious.

To be honest, those aren't particularly good scores for Ivies. I've seen people get in with those, but they were usually very wealthy legacies, people who had overcome extreme hurdles, or people who had done other great accomplishments in life (one kid became a millionaire starting his online business, not very high standardized test scores as I recall).

hate to be blunt.. but if you are a normal person with those scores, thats a sure fire reject from Ivies

If you're not a URM, recruited athlete, ISEF winner, developmental case ($$$), etc., then you will 98% of the time be rejected with those scores.

Honestly, I don't think those aren't 'good scores' even for the next tier down. And i agree with everyone else...

without a MAJOR hook, such applicant would be wasting their money to apply. And, quite frankly, even if admitted to Caltech or MIT, such scores would mean a huge struggle academically.

Haha I think the OP gets the point.

Someone from my school last year got into Brown with a 22 ACT, 2.5 GPA and someone with a 4.4 GPA, 35 ACT was rejected. No idea what happened there.

I realize that these are far below Ivy standards. I meant that they were pretty good in general. I'm just curious if anyone has gotten in with these scores.

Obviously he has a genuine HOOK to be admitted to Brown with an ACT score below the nation's average ;)

Once again, I'm sure people have gotten in to HYMPSC with those scores. Those people would not have gotten in without Legacy status, D1 athletic recruit, developmental admission, or one of a few other hooks that would flag the application.

Someone has. Does that answer the question? I mean, not many people have, but yes someone has.

hmmmmmm, someone must have lied on the application...

I'm sure SOMEONE has. But it was a developmental admit, I bet my bucks.

I was looking for specific examples, but I guess no one has any.

Why are you asking for specific examples? Isn't it enough to know those people exist?

Basically there is no one test score that will eliminate you from the running for any elite school. But low test scores drop your chances to single digits... but you hear a lot of people on this site telling you "what the hell, it's a crapshoot anyway so just go for it." So your chances of getting in with a 27 and no hook would be miniscule, but you would not be an auto-reject because almost nothing is an auto-reject.

If you didn't submit a test score it would be an auto-reject :P

Ha. That was my SAT score, an 1850. Was that your score too? Just curious why you picked 1850 and 27 out of all the numbers.

maybe cornell. i hear its the easiest ivy to get into.. but obv u need other things to cover up like good gpa and ecs

How about if you own a private aerospace organization? :)

Actually, I'd say Columbia. I think I heard Columbia has the lowest SAT scores and they're the ones that are least picky about them. But also I agree with what you said about Cornell. It has the highest admission rate out of all the ivies I think.
