I know someone who claims to have been accepted at both Yale and Harvard--and has known for at least a week. Is this possible?

Likely letters?

Not sure–not for sports definitely. He is openly telling people he was accepted to both.

I doubt it; he’s probably overconfident if he says he was notified a week ago (I’m pretty sure the Ivies can’t contact students about stuff like that after March 15th).

he’s probably just getting cocky. or his parents made some GIGANTIC monetary contribution to those schools. Laugh at him for me when he gets a rejection from both schools.

Well I thought it might be a bit of talk, but didn’t want to get my hopes up. It just seems strange that he’d make it so public, when he must have some classmates who know the decision date for the Ivies–so would know it’s a lie.

I’m just grasping at anything to keep our hopes alive here!

Schools send out likely letters for academically outstanding students as well, not just athletes. I mean only about .25% of the applicants can be considered a truly amazing applicant and therefore get likely letters. Is this kid just all around top notch? I’m guessing probably not. Or is his father a 4 generation Harvard legacy and his mother a 4 generation Yale legacy? Thats the only other way I could see him knowing this early.

Agreed with above-laugh at him for me when he gets rejected.

yes–I’ll smile to myself
