Ivy Bound?

I am now a freshman i have a 4.0 gpa throughout my whole middle school career, and i participated in many extracurricular activities like STEM club ( science technology engineering and mathematics) debate team, robotics, and various sports like basketball and soccer. Should i go to a regular high school that has alot of ap classes and they receive many scholarships, or should i go to a alternative school that has IB classes and alot of AP classes too, but they dont have sports? Also should what classes should i take during high school should i take all the ap classes i can or should i mix in ib classes with ap classes? Also what summer enrichment programs should i take during the summer? Thanks for the help!!

Go wherever you want to. Your choice of school wont affect what college you get into. You can get a shot at top schools by attending either.

I don’t think there’s any particular advantage to “mixing” AP and IB but I could be wrong…

Are you a rising freshman, or have you just finished your freshman year?

A rising freshman

I honestly don’t think it the high school I went to has affected my grades or scores much. It may have been easier to get a good GPA at a less competitive school, but otherwise I don’t think there is much of a difference.

On that note, is a good GPA from a competitive high school weighed more heavily than the same GPA from a bad school?

I think if you’re a rising freshman you should stay off of this site for a few years

If you think you can survive in the alternative school’s setting, go right ahead. Specific schools aren’t exactly weighted more by adcoms, but course rigor and competitiveness are. With that said, you could probably achieve success by just taking the most rigorous courses at your normal public school and doing well in the them. The difference is marginal, so it just comes down to if you think you want, and are up for, the challenge of an alt. STEM school.
