IVY Leage Admissions - Do I need to retake Subject Test

Hey Guys,

I am an international student from Sweden applying to Princeton, Cornell, Columbia and UPenn (Wharton)

Just received my Nov 3 Subject Tests Scores, which were quite disappointing...

Physics: 750
Math Level 2: 700
French With Listening: 700

My SAT 1 score is about 2200, do you think I need to retake math and french in order to get accepted to the above mentioned schools? I know I have ivy leage ECs and I know I can easily get 750+ on math 2, is it worth retaking it?

You have nothing to lose by doing so. The schools take the best scores to evaluate your proficiency if multiple scores for the same test are provided, and for an Ivy League school, the higher the better.

Adcoms have told me that scores in the 700s are solid. You won’t be rejected from any school because of these scores. In fact, at least for Cornell, your scores are well within the range of their accepted students.

You don’t need to retake them and I would discourage you from doing so unless you will put in a serious study and preparation for them.

I would say Math 2 looks the least awesome. That’s because a lot of people score high on it; you’re like in the 60th percentile right now. I’m not saying it’s a bad score though - math 2 is hard.

I agree with Thursday8 - the generous curve on Math II puts even an 800 at 85th percentile. Your scores are not dissapointing! If you retake anything, take Math II. A score of 700 is not cause to reject you if you have “ivy league ECs” and a good academic record.
