Hello everyone. I plan to apply to some top schools such as the ivies and other similarly ranked schools to major in something like biology. On the SAT II, I got a 760 in Bio M and a 760 in Chemistry. Should I retake these tests or are these scores fine? I ask this because I keep on reading conflicting information, for example one person may say "Colleges don't really differentiate scores that are 750-800" and another may say "You really need to get a 800 or at least 790" though I must admit the latter is usually for subjects like Math II (although I gather that chemistry may be a similar case). So can someone please clear up any misconceptions I may have and provide me with sound advice please. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

What did you get on your SAT and/or ACT? Do you have Ivy level scores there and is the rest of your application ivy caliber? If the rest of your application is good, you SAT subject test scores will be fine.

I haven’t done those yet but I believe that the extra-curricular section is. I know competition is very fierce for internationals, and thus that’s why I am having doubts about these scores.

Well, get back to us after you take the SAT or ACT.

Good luck.

I don’t know anyone who says you need 780 or higher to get into any particular Ivy, even HYP.

You likely need 750 or higher unless you have a hook.

Chemistry is NOT similar to Math II in that regard. 800 is very common for Math II, less so for Chemistry.

Both scores are good enough for ivys

And yes it is much easier getting 800 in math II…I got 720 in chemistry and 800 in math
