Ivy League chances with a 640 in critical reading?

<p>What are my chances at acceptance into an ivy league or top school? I am currently a high school junior. I scored a 2130 (superscored - 640 CR, 770 M, 720 W) on the SAT with a 2100 as my highest single score (640 CR, 770 M, 690 W). Hopefully I will do well on the SAT II Subject Tests (plan on taking Math I/II and Biology). I take the most demanding courses that my school offers (which will include 3 or 4 AP classes by the time I graduate depending on if my school drops one of them from the curriculum). I am ranked in the top of my class and have many ECs such as being an active member to 6 different clubs at my school, of which I have 3 leadership roles, partaking in two community service projects that I devote a large chunk of my time to, and playing a varsity sport for my school (I am the captain of the team). </p>

<p>What do you think my chances would be? Is the 640 a major detriment? </p>

<p>It is not major but your SAT as a whole is pretty low for Ivy at 2100. You still have a chance because of your #1 rank and EC’s. Dont take both Math 1 and Math 2. Only take one

<p>By itself it’s not going to keep you OUT of a top school if you have what they like to call a “compelling narrative.” Is it especially competitive for Harvard? No, but that’s not the only great school out there. That being said, I’d be looking to retake and focus on CR–below 650 is kind of low, and you’re almost there. Regardless, you are going to end up at a good school–speaking as a parent and person who’s been around awhile. :-)</p>
