Ivy league recruit?

I am a sophomore looking to attend an Ivy league college. I am competitive academically for these schools but I was wondering if my track times were appropriate for competition at this level.
My prs are:
1600- 5:02
3200-11:01
Of course, I'm only a sophomore so my times will hopefully drop by graduation.
Also, please provide information about how the recruitment process works. I haven't really received any letters from promising schools.

A 5:02 1600 isn’t enough to get you recruitment at an ivy so you should drop that notion. A 5:02 1600 is good but it’s not amazing and not nearly enough to get you a recruitment at Harvard/Princeton/Yale. You should focus on your academics and other ECs and not rely on track to pull you through

I wasn’t saying I was going to rely on track I was wondering if it was possibility I could run at these schools. I have heard of other girls running these times at top schools so I was wondering how they went about reaching out to the coaches and such.

You don’t they reach out to you

I actually disagree completely. Your times look well in line with a future Ivy league recruit. I assume these are freshmen outdoor times? Try to get down to about 4:55 and 10:45, and when you are reaching out to schools next year, I’m sure there will be a lot of interest. 5:02 and 11:01 are already really impressive though!

Your times are very impressive for a sophomore. Keep working hard and you will be good enough to compete in ivy league competitions!

thank you! I’m hoping to break 5 and 11 soon. so in the meantime I should wait for colleges to reach out to me? Or should I be reaching out to them?

I am looking to be recruited for swimming, and I can explain what I did. You should research the times of the current athletes at the Ivies, and strive to obtain those times or just slightly lower by the time you are a junior. So by then, the Ivies could see you and that will probably greatly improve admission chances by the time you apply senior year.

Oh, and maybe waiting for them would be a good idea. If they do not contact you by the beginning of track season junior year, then maybe you should reach out to them by email and include your times and videos of yourself running.

Look for the Athletic Recruit sub forum, under College Admissions, I think. There you will find dedicated recruitment discussion. This is just Chances guessing games section.
