Ivies, Track and Field

Hello I'm a track athlete and I'm starting to consider colleges and I'm thinking of going through the recruitment process but I have a few questions regarding my sport and my academics,

I go to an academically demanding high school in Turkey.

My times are: 100m: 11.21
200m: 22.81
60m: 7.18

These are all from last season, I will probably run something close to an 11 flat this season.

My sat is reading 700, math 690, writing 750 : I'll retake the sat on june and hopefully get a 760+ on math.

Basically am I recruitment level for the ivies and if I were to work on either of the two should I focus more energy on the track or in the library?

Thanks in advance!

If you search on “ivy league track and field” you can get to a website that will list the top times in the Ivy League. I did a quick check – with your current times (assuming you are male) you would be in the top thirty for the 100 m and 60 m, in the top 40 for the 200 m.

If you are female with those times – YES you would be a recruit!

A sub 11sec 100m and sub 22 200m is a strong Ivy track recruit. Your test scores should be okay if you hit those times.

As it stands now, your times are very good, but I don’t think they’re going to blow away any coaches. Your test scores are also very good, but again probably not strong enough to stand on their own in Ivy admissions without the athletic hook.

I’m speaking in very broad generalities, schools have different needs at different times and I know nothing about you as a complete applicant. And even if I did, I’m just some guy on the internet. Good luck.

Times should be FAT. We are talking junior year times. If these are sophomore year times! A modest imorovement should make you attractive. In any case! If younare full pay might be attractive anyway as there might not be many applicants from turkey.

Improve the math test scores and try to lower the times–as suggested above, you will need both.

hi, i’m in a similar situation. I’m a male sophomore, run track and cross country, and i am hoping to get recruited to run at either Dartmouth, Brown, or Yale. here’s my general profile:
-4.0GPA going into junior year (took all honors courses fresh/soph years)
-in my highschool’s highest band
-will be taking pre-calc and 3APs junior year(bio,eng,u.s.hist) and multiple APs senior year
My strongest track events are the 1600m-4:38, and 800m-2:03. im hoping to greatly improve these times next year! any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I don’t think those scores cant stand alone themselves without the recruit hook. While I believe that the times could be a bit lower to help, the scores IMO are actually fine and improving math, which is easy, should make u fine for scores, assuming your grades are fine as well.
Since you Have this yr, to improve the times, u should be fine IMO.

So I retook the SAT on June and now I have a CR 750, Math 800, Writing 740

I also broke my PB and ran a 11.02 this season.

Lets see how the admission/recruitment process plays out!
