Ivy Scholars at Yale University

Congrats on all the acceptances!
Does anyone know about the admit rate of this program? Also, I’m currently a sophomore and don’t have any psat/sat scores yet… do they still accept applications without them?

ok so apparently this is the first year the program is doing ED and RD. Does anyone know the admin rate ED vs. RD? (I doubt since it’s new, but I thought I’d check)

I’m in…Greetings from Brazil!

This is what a very smart person had written:

The program directors didn’t offer any statistical breakdown. However, I can’t imagine applying Early would ever have a negative effect unless the earlier deadline compromises the quality of your application. I applied RD and I felt they sent acceptances in “waves,” after which you would have to either accept or reject the offer. Given this system, I imagine they probably admit students more liberally at the beginning when more places are available. Again, this is purely my conjecture and I don’t have stats to back it up, but it seems logical to me.

The same person wrote in an earlier message on this same board that she actually talked to Dr. Luong and he said that the essays and the reccs are what they really look at since most sophomores don’t really take the SAT/ACT so early.

Good luck!

Oh and also: i’m a sophomore. A brazilian sophomore. And no, there aren’t any anacondas here…nor i have a monkey…nor i use a lion to go to school :P

So…happy!

Ok Junglee. I’m actually a rising Senior, but I just finished my app and I’m about to sent it in, I just was worried that maybe most of the slots have already been filled.

hahaa i’m in too
congrats to you all!!
i’m a rising junior…uhh…facebook group? :)

yes! we should start a facebook group!

Did everyone get in so far? I’m super excited!!!

group has been created on FB, however is bare bones. Anybody who wants to add can become admin

Redirecting...;

Did anyone of you already pay the deposit? Or got any information on it?

Hi. My son did not hear anything yet. Like you, he is a sophomore. I assume that you all should hear this coming week. Good luck!!!

any of you know if they send rejection emails?

I am an Ivy Scholars 2009 alum. I applied ED as a rising sophomore with no SAT/PSAT scores. They REALLY stress recs and essays! (Make them fantastic!)

k thanks. i turned in my app about a week ago, but as an overly paranoid person i’m just trying to figure out how soon i’ll find out and yada, yada, yada. my recs are extremely good (as far as i know)…and i had my essay proofread by a 2009 Ivy Scholars alum and he really helped me out (7 REVISIONS!!! lol)…soooo fingers crossed

Harvard_Hopeful,
I hope we can see you there in July! I’m sure this will be an awesome experience!

just out of curiosity, has anyone on this board ever been rejected or know of somebody that has been rejected from ivy scholars?

i find it hard to believe that their acceptance rate is 20% when i haven’t heard of one rejection yet :/

I don’t know if anyone in here ever got rejected but I think that this is due to two reasons:

 1. people from CC are very smart
 2. not many people apply so even knowing someone that applied would be difficult

Regardless of these facts…it is still very prestigious and awesome. I am so glad I am going this year

RAWR! i wanna kno! i can’t wait til June 5th! tooooo longgggg lol =P
