Hey, I might be wrong but I haven’t seen a thread for YYGS 2020 yet so I’m making one here. I’ve barely started the essays though… how are everyone’s apps going?
I’m on the same ship. Haven’t started my essay and I’m getting scared that Yale might have a bias against my small school.
Oh well, I submitted my application a few days ago. Now I kinda regret it cuz I should’ve revised my essays again… but why are you worried about bias? My school is very small too but I don’t know why there would be any bias against small schools.
IDK but it’s just that no one from our school in its 100 guy year history has ever been to a institution that’s around top 100 and that’s what I’m stressing over. But to look back that may be a good sign?
Oh I see… hey you might be the first tho!
Also, I just found out today my friend is also applying, thankfully her first choice is SGC and not ASE, which is the one I chose. Our class is insanely small so I’m surprised we happened to apply to the same programme, and I’m lowkey nervous cuz we’re good friends and all but ah I really want to get into this programme!
I started back in October and I’m thinking about submitting soon…I kind of want to get an earlier decision, you know? Even though I’ll probably get deferred and then rejected, the chance of getting an early acceptance is pretty tantalizing.
See I’d do it earlier so I know later when to start on other applications. If you’re not going to try for anything else it wouldn’t matter if you do it or not. Also, never have a negative attitude towards these situations!
Haha, yeah I probably shouldn’t be so negative. I am thinking about applying to other programs but a lot of them haven’t even opened yet so all my energy has been focused on this.
I’m now at that phase of were I turned in my application and want it to already be reviewed so I won’t have to worry for longer.
Is this the only program at Yale for high school students?
If there are other Yale programs, how is YYGS comparing with them, in terms of selectivity?
There is another yale offers to Highschool students called YSPA (Yale summer program is Astrophysics ). Its easier to get into if you’re deeply passionate about Astrophysics. I was going to apply to that but the financial aid cannot help me to go through applying, so I was forced to apply to this program instead. That’s the only other one I know, but most of YYGS is a conglomeration of different subjects in one making it an all in one program for highschool students. Hopefully this helps you
Hi! I’m an international student, who applied for YYGS 2019, I got on the waitlist and then got rejected, but they e-mailed me again this year telling me to apply again, I wanted to know if that’s something they usually do with waitlisted students
@Salim21 Hey I know you are concerned about your small school, but I got into the SAMS program at Carnegie Mellon (less than 10% acceptance rate). My school was very small and existed for 20 years before it shut down and we never got anyone to a top college, though I might be the first.
Hi! I applied for Early Action, and was wondering if anyone knows whether we’ll hear on exactly December 24th, or if decisions may be released before then? Good luck everyone!
I think it’s December 24th at the latest that we get to hear a decision? That’s what the wording seems to imply, but I’m just going to expect it for Christmas Eve so I don’t get too excited waiting for it, haha.
I was waiting for this thread <3 .
Can’t wait until decisions, will there be any interviews?
I’ve applied as an international student from India!
I doubt there will be interviews… (at least, I hope not haha)
Lol nothing yet
i applied early too, i’m from Europe btw
