Ivy Transfer Acceptee stats/essays for future applicants

I did not read Shaganov's post, but did it have something to do with her trying so hard?

yawn Okay, we get it... what now?

I did see the word "thesaurus." Here is a little hint: I actually know all the words I use! That is a little hard to imagine, I know, but try hard shaggie and you can do it... some people... just know more than you do.

either you did read my post and or lying, or don't realize how stupid you sound responding to the single word 'thesaurus' without knowing it's context.

and trying so hard? to do what?

do you not think you sound mean, or do you not care?

That is a disjunct and a conjunct.

Speaking from experience, all sentences directed toward me with the word 'thesaurus' in it have been negative in the same respect. I am inductively justified in my belief. Now let us test that belief:

you sound like a pretentious ass chained to his theasurus.
Bingo.
do you not think you sound mean, or do you not care?
Very much the latter.

Do tell me if there are too many 'big words' for you.

Darn sciolists.

what makes you think i don't understand the words you are using?

and i didn't realize you just didn't care. that's really sad, but in that case, i'm totally done. have a great lifetime of... hurting people. eesh.

I strongly disagree with the idea that induction can justify berating people. Even if you were right in this particular context, the above statement is just terrible.

Maybe you know more than me, but I believe you should have said "...all sentences directed toward me with the word 'thesaurus' in THEM have been..."

And while I'm wasting a post on you:

Why did you call Brown?

How did the # of admits this year come up in the context of your conversation?

Why would they tell you? What special relationship do you have that gives you access to this information?

Because unless you have a good answer to the above questions, I feel comfortable chalking your comments up to a mean spirit and an inflated ego.

So much for providing reasons as to why you actually disagree...

...it is simple, really. Just use Bayesian probabilities:

2. Maybe you know more than me, but I believe you should have said "...all sentences directed toward me with the word 'thesaurus' in THEM have been..."

Whoops. My apologies. I am not infallible.

And while I'm wasting a post on you:

Good way to segue into your questions...

3. Why did you call Brown?
4. How did the # of admits this year come up in the context of your conversation?
5. Why would they tell you? What special relationship do you have that gives you access to this information?
...which I will not answer simply because you are so rude.

Go right ahead, for I could not care less. I never asked anyone here to believe me. This pineapple pizza would taste just as good if you were to think of me as a liar.

Mmmmm... mmmmm.... gooood.

Almost orgasmic, I should say.

But seriously, do not believe me if you have the slightest bit of doubt. Heck, you can apply that darn old Cartesian skepticism on me if you wish.

Usuallylurking, if you call Brown and ask to speak to admissions I'm sure they will give you the statistics of spots available, assuming you have applied. On their application, they specifically state how many transfer applicants they anticipate having room for and if this changes the applicant should know.

nspeds isn't trying to offend anyone, or make them worry....he's trying to be honest. look, unfortunately for all of us, there's relatively few transfer spots available. as long as you're not overconfident, you have nothing to worry about. and if you DO get rejected transfer admissions, don't blame it on yourself, realize that this was a grueling year, and move on

Okay, the only time anyone used "thesarus" was me, trying to be funny and lighten this ridiculously melodramatic conversation.

Everyone needs to lighten the hell up and get back to the actual topic.

Nspeds, GO AWAY

Why is there all this hate. Way to ruin one of the most informative threads.

GL to those who applied to Brown. It seems like colleges in general are accepting less transfers....well, at least Duke and maybe Brown. I hope this isnt the same for others.

isn't it funny that for shag got into harvard after all of this. lol

To NORTHRAMS and DPINMIAMI- thank you so much for your inspiring post! I am currently attending a large, competitive UC, but my goal is to transfer to UPenn. Can you post your Penn essays or PM me with them? Once again, thank you and best of luck!

ehh.. im satisfied with USC...
damn you over-achievers!!
btw, thnx for the stats!
will really help me when i apply to wharton for my graduate school.

ok maybe i should do something with my life.
Instead of applying this fall, maybe i should rest for a term and spend that to retake my SAT to raise it above 1500 while going down to Los Angeles to meet up with the mayor for a special internship project as a Financial analyst for the L.A. city while working 40 hours a week in a CPA firm as an assistant while self-studying for the CPA exam and then do about 500 hours of volunteering in the business administration office at hospital and maybe I should start 3, 4 in-campus student organization and become president of it (preferably a Business or Accounting Club) and that at spring I choose all the major related courses, get a 4.0 to raise my gpa to 3.83 and then get a professional help for my essay and then apply to Harvard or UPenn as a Business major.

Maybe then I would stand a chance.

its such a shame this thread got hijacked so many times! its still been reallllyy helpful though! :) thanks for everyone who posted!!!
