Ick. That's bad news. It is frustrating (not to be *****y) that you won't reveal the precise nature of your information/where you got it, because how am I to believe it...that is such bad news. Oh, well. I've actually gotten to the point where I'm sort of happy at my current school, and I would need to be, because I am not getting in. (I didn't apply for financial aid, though, at least.)

Oh, and Claysoul, it's from "Like a Rolling Stone," Bob Dylan, right? Napoleon was a reference to Andy Warhol. Reeeeally good screenname.

yeah, hopefully not applying for finaid is going to help...

You can choose not to believe me if you wish. I am just passing on information as I receive it.

nspeds, the point is, you just make people feel bad about themselves a lot. no one frequenting a transfer board needs to hear that you had some conversation with an ad comm at brown who told her it's going to be near impossible to get into brown this year, especially when you are going to then be really vague about it. i'm sure you will cut and paste some portion of this and then argue with it for the sake of arguing with it, but seriously, you're at georgetown, take advantage of that and stop haunting this place and randomly trashing people's dreams by telling them there aren't very many spaces where they want to go. a while ago you told me that one of the most meaningful moments of my life was laughable and then told me it was ok that you said that because that was the way everyone in academia thought. i mean, geez, why are you so, so mean spirited? most people who are unhappy enough to transfer really don't need anything but encouragement and i don't think i've ever, ever seen you come here to encourage anyone or to do anything but argue. so stop. go down to M street, go to a rooftop party and look out over the patomac and just.... stop being so mean.

Yikes, that was uncalled for...

Many applicants have PM'ed me for more precise information, and I have given it.

Of course, unjustified rants about my personality are humorous reads for study breaks from modal logic.

right there. that last line might as well read 'i'm intellectual, you're petty' yikes right back at you.

I, for one, am glad that nspeds relayed that information. I do not believe he was making it up and am am glad to know now that my chances at Brown are slim to none rather than wait the next 3 weeks under the assumption that they will be accepting their usual 20-25 percent of transfers just to be dissapointed.

Thank you, Timberland : ) : )

I am not so upset that I didnt apply to Brown.

Was there any particular reason why they are accepting so few transfers this year....overadmitted last year?

Without going into specifics, I can say that the admissions office is just doing as it is instructed. I do not know why those instructions were given.

in the herald, there have been articles about a housing crunch... that might be the reason why they are admitting less transfers.

Marta:

Yup! You're the first person to actually get my screen name without ridiculous hinting and banging them over the head screaming "BOB DYLAN BOZO" lol...

You've got to be cool!!

Dude, nspeds, Shangov is right. What people need at this point is encouragment and support. What you say about the acceptance rate isn't going to change what it actually is, so don't bother. Don't come around lambasting peoples hopes for no reason.

Hmm..

Both valid arguments, but two things.

Information in general is a good thing and I would take issue with anyone who wants to be protected through ignorance.

With that being said I think people take offense to some of the condescending tendencies of people in general, and it might be a good suggestion to limit these in this thread.

I'm not promoting ignorance, I'm discouraging callous and unnecessary discouragement. These people have already applied to Brown, telling them their hopes are slim (why does nspeds have anything to do with brown?) is just .... well.... callous and unnecessary!

I think I need a thesaurus :)

nspeds has always been very helpful to me on the forums.

and if i were applying to brown this year as a transfer, i would want to know what my chances would be like and if they were admitting very few this year. that's basically one of the reasons to even use this forum. to get information. thanks nspeds.

For Shaganov: I wanted to cut and paste so I could give you credit, but this is so good that I decided to repost it as a sign of acclamation.

jL_visioNz: I used to feet like that too, but it is just a question of time before the other personality kicks in. He could be helpful, yes, but there many are times when his exaggerated idea of truth is used solely to berate people. Now who in their right state of mind applies to 3 schools, but calls all others and asks all the questions that could possibly appear on CC?

...as to a remark that makes little to no sense.

Madonna is waiting, my friend.

I should note that I did not read shaganov's post. I rarely have time for political sycophants, especially those who cry for imbeciles. At any rate, her essays for Harvard were poor.

You want honesty, you have it. You can complain about this post even further, but odds are I probably will not read it!

Whoops! I do not want to ruin the immigrant mentality! Hard work, hard work.

EDIT: I should let all of you forum posters know that martini actually posted above me, but deleted it.

Bulgarian embarrassment?

Hahahahaha :)

This is too easy.

dear god nspeds, we all know my essays for Harvard were not POOR. they were orignial, and a lot of people, including my college counselor (at a prep school that sends 100 percent of seniors on to four year institutions, literally 25 percent of my graduating class to an ivy and the majority of the rest to schools like duke, stanford and middlebury) who said that it was truly heartfelt and excellent. I also only posted one. i'm sure you could run rings around me in philosophy, but i'm a better writer than you are. you sound like a pretentious ass chained to his theasurus.
also, only someone really, really uninformed could infer that john kerry is actually stupid. i don't care if you like him as a politician or not, but an imbecile? i'd love to see you take him on in a foreign relations committee meeting.
and you obviously read my post. and considering that you have 2,884 posts, you probably will respond to it as well.
i stick by my original point-- that your cutting words can actually hurt people. you have no idea how much things like that moment listening to kerry's speech meant, or how much my harvard essays that I poured my soul into meant to me. no matter how ridiculous your assertion that my essays were POOR or Kerry is STUPID are, it's still hurtful. So please, just stop.
