I’ve heard conflicting stories, so is it easier or harder to get into an Ivy as a transfer? I was looking particularly at Brown, but I’m not sure if I’d even stand a chance. Right now I’m at a state university in the Honors program, and I don’t feel challenged at all. What should I write in my essay to make me stand out? Thanks so much!
The problem with transferring is losing credits. That’s a very expensive thing to do, and I never recommend doing it unless you have a REALLY good reason to do it. Like health problems. Being “challenged” isn’t one of those reasons. The further along you get in your degree, it’ll get more challenging. If it’s not challenging, be happy for a high GPA. It opens doors you can’t even imagine. Graduate school is plenty challenging if you’re worried about that. BTW, how do you know Brown is going to be more challenging? Whichever degree plan you choose at either school, it’s still accredited as a bachelors; no more, no less.
I’m suspecting there’s more to this story than just being challenged
