hey guys. I don’t know if I should even apply to transfer if I received a B+ this semester. I am thinking about transferring to Brown or Columbia because they’re mid-sized institutions with emphases on literature/the arts. I noticed that most successful students who transfer to " top" schools have 3.9+ GPAs, and my GPA is not even close to that. I am currently attending a “top” school but there are numerous reasons I don’t like it/its programs. I know I should maintain a positive attitude but I don’t want to waste my time, and I got rejected from the schools I tried to transfer to last semester. is it even worth it to try to transfer at this point? I only have 2~ years left I guess I can wait that out but I just don’t really want that.
I think that we need more information to give any useful advice.
What year are you in? What is your university GPA? Are you majoring in literature? If so, what do you intend to do after graduation?
What do you actually want in a university?
At a minimum you are going to need a very good reason to transfer to a highly ranked university such as Brown or Columbia. It is true that “most successful students who transfer to ‘top’ schools have 3.9+ GPAs”. However in addition to high GPAs they also have good references and a good reason to transfer.
