I visited Dartmouth a while back and when I went there everyone was Anti Harvard

I hear that Yale and all the other ivys are like that as well

Is this true?
Why do the ivy league kids hate Harvard?

I visited Dartmouth a while back and when I went there everyone was Anti Harvard

I hear that Yale and all the other ivys are like that as well

Is this true?
Why do the ivy league kids hate Harvard?

Because its ranked number 1 and is the most famous. I think the hatred for the school is really unjustified. People automatically assume that its a bunch of kids who have perfect scores and did oodles of Extra curriculars in high school just so they could get into the school, not because it is a great school to go to, per se, but rather because they wanted to go the the school offering the most recognition. Which is unquestionably true for some students there (and at other Ivy's) but is not in fact true of most students there.

This YDN column explains how the spectre of Harvard eats away at the Yale psyche. It can be somewhat similar elsewhere.

Oh please. Harvard isn't the best.

Well at Yale I don't think it's so much hatred as rivalry. Anyway, it's totally justified at Yale because H and Y are known to be archrivals.

I hear the Harvard girls are ugly :/
haha

I heard you're ugly......

oh!!!!!! What a comeback!

haha I hope not
you in college sr?

It's really a shame. A girl I know who graduated last year goes to Harvard. And she was really nice, too!

Then this year this hardcore Asian got in.

The guy I wrote about in the "Brilliant People" thread goes to Harvard.

But then the all-around renaissance genius goes to Yale. And our former debate captain. And the guy who won the $30,000ish Discover scholarship/class president.

abeautifulmistake - what kind of college student would make that kind of statement?

oh please, it was a joke

Well, one of the reasons I'm not too fond of Harvard is the fact that I've simply met too many arrogant people. I think - regardless of your statistics - that to boast of yourself because you qualified through a markedly flawed application process is rather stupid.

And yet, I see so many overinflated egos. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are great people at Harvard, and I've had the pleasure of meeting a decent few. But I've also met a disproportionate number of overblown egos.

I couldnt agree with you more cp
the entire application process is flawed..
I feel that no application system can take into account the many variables in each applicants life..

I wish I was a rich white kid who has private tutors and drives a porsche.

No offense to anyone.. Just saying :)

omg...this is so unfounded. Isn't Princeton actually top-ranked for undergrad? This article was so retarded. A true Yalie would never say that Harvard is better, and anyone with a brain would know better that there is no one school in the world that is better than everyother school. I think HYPS are all great schools, and if you get the oppertunity to get an education from one, you are lucky. Once you talk about the top five or so schools the difference is negligible. There is no clear number one

just my opinion :)

agreed with anna.

The pecking order is of long standing and fairly rigid.

ow soo much reading
but i get the point

No, I'm not in college...why do you ask?

Oh just curious

Yeah well some people are stupid and they have bad feelings against Harvard when, in reality, it really shouldn't matter at all.

Haha sorry I guess my post came off a little too strong. The whole thing was supposed to be sarcastic. And the college student remark referred to sr6622's (a fellow high school 07'er) unavoidable immaturity. ;)
