It's so sad to hear we've lost a brilliant author, The Catcher in the Rye was a favorite of mine. Good night and so long Mr. Salinger.

Hey there Salinger, what did you do? Just when the world was looking at you to write anything that meant anything that told us you were through. Now it’s been years since you’ve passed away, but I see no plaque and I see no grave, and I can’t help believing you wanted it that way.

RIP - I loved Catcher in the Rye. Not my favorite ever, but it was a great read. I would have loved to meet him - he turtled in a house somewhat close to my grandmother’s house. That would have been mega creepy though, he probably has gates around his house anyway.

OMG JD SALINGER DIED??? :.[ first Zinn, now Salinger. Two of the people to question society the most, gone in a matter of days

Shoot… That sucks. The Catcher in the Rye was my introduction to meaningful literature.

Zinn died too? I read A People’s History for APUSH, and it put history in a much more interesting light. We’re losing too many good writers.

RIP Salinger. You shall be remembered.

I heard about this. All the cool people are dying. Zinn, Salinger, and the Taco Bell guy!

Well, I guess this would be a good time to read Nine Stories or Franny and Zooey.

omg the Taco Bell guy! he rejected American stigma toward foreign culture/food.

Man, I really liked his book, Catcher in the Rye.

Read it in my Junior year.

R.I.P J.D Salinger.

^Haha, I love it!

And plus Taco Bell is deeeeeelicious!

I just read catcher in the rye then he died. i wonder if i would read it three years from now he probably would be living at least until then.

Sad…
I think some of the freshmen at my school are reading The Catcher in the Rye now. I wonder what it would be like to be in their place.
Ahh.

Anyone who hasn’t read Franny and Zooey, Nine Stories (particularly A Perfect Day For Bananafish, For Esme with Love and Squalor, etc) is missing out.

haha good riddance.

Salinger’s Catcher and Nine Stories are some of my favorites. I found this quote in the NY Times- “Mr. Salinger drank his own urine, she wrote, and sat for hours in an orgone box.” RIP

J. D. Salinger, we just finish reading his book in class ( The Catcher in the Rye). I also used the novel for my Ap English essay. I think the novel is very interesting.

Oh wow, that’s really sad. I wondered how he died…I heard he was somewhat of a loner. I’ve read A Catcher in the Rye and “The Perfect Day for Bananafish” by him. Both were really good. Although the latter, was a bit strange.

Yes, he was a recluse for basically most of his life. He lived away from the public eye, aside from the occasional legal issue he had to deal with.

salinger is a hero

RIP Salinger Catcher was brilliant.
