The Catcher in the Rye

I read the book...didn't think it was that great...it was alright...not enough action like in other book...blah

anywayz...i have a final on it tomorrow...this sucks...anyone wanna discuss it?

sure, I read it a year or so ago, though.

remember, practically everyone is phony.

People suck. Life sucks. Except for some nuns, this one girl, my sister, and kids in general. Yeah. The End.

It was dumb...anyway...which essay should I write...I have a choice of one of the following:

significance of the title
most important turning point
holden's real conflict
theme
holden and the "madman"
purpose of holden's digressions
holden - a tragic of modern hero?

Catcher In the Rye is one my favorites in literature.

The Catcher in the Rye seems to divide people into two groups - those who "get it," and therefore love it, and those who don't "get it." The indifferent are conspicuously absent. You have to really identify with Holden in order to enjoy the book, which I did.

I'm not saying the book isn't bad...I like Salinger's literary technique of stream of consciousness. It's really good because you can actually feel what Holden is thinking and feeling. However, I think the story was dumb. The plot line should have been developed more and it would have been great to have seen some more action - whether more fighting or something.

I totally agree. My two favorite books are Catcher in the Rye & To Kill A Mockingbird.

Tkm > Cinr

I read this book a while ago and I didn't like it that much.

I'm one of the people who liked it. Just for the record.

i love catcher. i'll probably end up marrying a holden.

For the record, I loved it. I enjoy talking to people who look at life the way Holden does. Because life is far far from nice and sweet, and talking reality is where it's at.

Significance of the Title would be easy

Oh yeah, I had to read this book on my own. My teacher kicks you out of the classroom if she hears a curse word, she couldn't handle it.

Yeah...I was considering do that essay....I guess I'll do that then.

I never read that book but rank all of those essays on Which essay would be the easiest which one could u andswer the best/remember the most information on...thats how i do it...Like when i had to chose 4/5 essays for global final i ranked them all the top 4 got chosen and i wrote them its worked all yr my latest global test was a 95

Wonderful book, one of the best. What to action, hey, maybe you need some spec. effects in book? Doh, Hollywood's influence.

It was a good book, but not at the greatness it is rated by many.

I read it, and it was a very good book.

That book kills me!
