Jabrill Pepper to commit to Michigan today

All we need is Funchess

^Well watch out for Jake Butt this year too he’ll get a lot of time for sure. Borges runs an extremely tight end friendly offense.

Jabrill Peppers is recruiting Adoree Jackson (top 3 CB in the nation) very hard. He is also recruiting Juju Smith and Da-shawn Hand. In addition to those guys, Malik McDowell is also seriously considering Michigan. Thus could be the best defensive class ever at Michigan.

No. 1 CB Jabrill Peppers is recruiting No. 2 CB Adoree' Jackson to Michigan - mlive.com;

He’s really well spoken and sounds like a very smart guy. That’s awesome. Better then the average football player

If this class can become what it might become… oh man

Watch for chase winovich to commit in around an hour

Winovich is in, it’ll be official soon.

Just saw that. He looks very good. Once he fills in that frame, with the right strength development and coaching, this kid could be a beast! A great complement to Ferns.

Da’Shawn Hand just visited OSU and came out praising Michigan and VTech! LOL! From what he said, I think OSU is pretty much out of the picture. It will come down to Michigan and VTech. I think Peppers needs to serenade Hand with one of his tunes!

[No. 1 recruit Da’Shawn Hand visits Ohio State, but praises Michigan | MLive.com](No. 1 recruit Da'Shawn Hand visits Ohio State, but praises Michigan - mlive.com)

We now have 11 commits. Although we currently only have 14 openings (in other words, 3 remaining), with attrition, this class will likely end up with 19 recruits (8 to go). I see us taking on 3 more on Offense (1 WR, perhaps Artavis Scott, 1 RB like Joe Mixon and 1 OL Jamarco Jones) and 5 more on defense (3 DL Da’Shawn Hand, Malik McDowell and Andrew Brown and 2 DB Adoree Jackson and Juju Smith). There is no way we will land all of those guys, but those are the most talented players that are considering Michigan seriously. Hopefully, we can get some of them.

It appears that not every recruit is buying the lines of Urban Meyer. This is a new era. Thanks to twitter, facebook, etc., the top recruits are all in touch with each other now. High school athletes are much savvier than they used to be.

“But my favorite coaching staff is Michigan. With Michigan, what you see is what you get. It’s professional. With some, you feel like when you get to college it might, change, but with Michigan, everyone says they’re straight.”

Da’Shawn Hand

I haven’t heard any chatter whatsoever connecting us to Joe Mixon. Obviously he’s a super top flight recruit but with the runners we brought in last year and the lack of speculation or visits to Michigan I highly doubt he’s seriously considering us. I think this class probably stops at 17 or 18 but we’ll see.

maizeandblue, I heard that Speight and Mixon communicated once or twice, but I agree that it is unlikely that we will land a top 5 RB this year after having successfully recruited the #1 RB in the country last year. Any RB who joins us in this class will likely be red-shirted, a hard sell for any top rated RB.

Leonard Fournette, the #1 RB in the nation (same caliber as Derrick Green) says he wants to visit Michigan. I would consider him a long shot at best, but one can always hope!

[Recruiting: Leonard Fournette, the No. 1 running back in 2014, reportedly wants to visit Michigan | MLive.com](Recruiting: Leonard Fournette, the No. 1 running back in 2014, reportedly wants to visit Michigan - mlive.com)

Da’Shawn Hand has updated his list and now has three leaders, with Michigan reportedly at the top.

[No. 1 recruit Da’Shawn Hand sets a top three, and Michigan is reportedly the leader | MLive.com](No. 1 recruit Da'Shawn Hand sets a top three, and Michigan is reportedly the leader - mlive.com)

Even if we do not land Hand or Fournette, the fact that both list Michigan among their serious contenders is pretty impressive.

From the above MLive.com article:

"Hand reportedly eliminated Virginia Tech because the school does not have a Sports Marketing program, and academics is a high priority on his list. "

Since academics are a high priority for Hand and since Alabama also doesn’t have an undergraduate SMP, then Michigan should be the hands on favorite. It has been reported that Hand is interested in engineering, and Michigan is much better than UA in that regard as well. Now if Hand goes to Florida, that would at least make more sense if he were a serious student.

I think Hand also cares about position coaching, immediate playing time, and NFL prospects. Having Hoke and Mattison has his positon coaches has to make Michigan a very serious leader. Also, given the lack of depth Michigan has at DL, his opportunities for starting as a redshirt freshman are very good, especially compared to Alabama. Of his top three now, I think Michigan is his leader. But you never know. Let us hope for the best.

If Hand were to go to Bama he wants to be an engineering major. He spoke to their dean of engineering there and liked him. Now as to why he’d go for engineering at Bama but eliminated a technical institute because they don’t have sports management is anyone’s guess. Probably because it’s Alabama football and Nick Saban.

Maybe engineering here was too legit for him. I mean, he’ll be a busy guy.

[ESPN predictions: Hand, McDowell, Scott, Westphal will pick Michigan | The Detroit News](http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130618/SPORTS0201/306180062/1131/sports0201/ESPN-predictions-Hand-McDowell-Scott-Westphal-will-pick-Michigan)

Hand, McDowel, Scott, Westphal would obviously be a tremendous haul. Artavis Scott at WR should be fun. Would be great to keep Jamarco Jones away from Ohio as well though.

Hand and McDowell, along with Mone, would probably give Michigan one of the best DL in 2015, 2016 and 2017. It is easy to see why DLmen are attracted to Michigan. Having the head coach and the defensive coordinator as your personal position coaches is hard to pass up, especially when you consider that one of them was the defensive coordinator for the Ravens. Westphal (very Game og Thrones-ish name) along with Pepper will make it very difficult on QBs to throw the ball effectively.

If Michigan lands Hand, we could have the #1 class in the nation, assuming this class grows beyond 17 players.
