Praying for y’all. Please do give advise for juniors like me stalking y’all day and night :))
I received an email that I got selected for my back home government scholarship which is around $20k for next 3 years to complete my degree. I am little relax for my financial part now. I feel like I will most probably not going to get the JKC scholarship. Because my GPA barely hit 3.5 when I applied.
BTW just out of curiosity. What you guys wrote in the essay 1? The question was- What is an important issue for our times, but is currently under-discussed? Why do you believe this?
I wrote on Obliteration of Gender Roles.
I wrote on the Constitutionality of Peaceful Protests
@yadav - Congratulations!
Hi everyone,
Another semi-finalist here from Texas. I have been a silent reader for a while and I think y’all are doing an awesome job! It has been nice reading about everyone and I wish us all the best in life whatever the outcome is. The wait is almost over. It has been hard these past few days to think about something else no matter how much I try to stop myself from reading this forum I just keep checking to see what everyone has to say the last few moments and I finally decided to post a comment!
I wrote about Trans fat and the sugar content in processed food
Congratulations!
@yadav OMG those are awesome news, congratulations. A 3.5 does not necessarily put you out of the race, but I’m glad you have alternatives.
I wrote about Violence and Crime in the Northern Triangle of Central America, and the need for a more active role from the U.S.
@yadav Yeeees, that’s super news! Getting that scholarship alone should be enough to convince you that your 3.5 is a small footnote in your overall application, just saying
I wrote about mental health awareness and stigma in Latino communities.
I feel like I truly shined on my “Explain why you chose your major” essay. You know when you hit the reader with a mic drop? Yeah :)) hahahah
@Gratitudeworks Welcome aboard! Hope you get good news this week/next week (y)
@yadav2 Congrats! That definitely helps a lot! Don’t define everything too early, let’s wait for the final result. I write my essay on inequity of distribution of resources which prevent students’ success.
I’m guessing they might make the decision on this week. Tomorrow or Thursday might have bigger chances for us to hear from them. LOL just guessing.
So anxious…
@norcalbusiness That’s good, at lease you are hearing something after submitted the application. I heard nothing from them ever since I submitted it lol.
I wrote about restorative justice as a method for empowering and rehabilitating at-risk communities, more specifically, the homeless LGBTQ+ youth population I tutor/mentor.
@bainianjun - Im feeling hopeful for something before Friday!!
I am 19! and wrote about America’s broken health care system !
I am from North Carolina
I wrote about net neutrality and how the lines of privacy are continuously blurred!
I wrote about mistreatment of the mentally ill within public psychiatric facilities in the United States! Also I am 19.
Hey, @yadav2 congratulations on your scholarship! I am happy for you. I wrote about minorities in STEM majors and how programs that are destined to encourage students into it are not doing a good job since programs like that do not allow Dreamers or International students to apply.
BTW, @norcalbusiness I like your topic I do think there needs to be more emphasis on preventing homelessness but more important working with the homeless LGBT youth community
@LeonardoRuales the organization I started is about helping minorities girls finish school and go to college because there is a underrepresentation of minorities. I’m a non traditional minority female and I took classes on campus my first year and I was appalled to see 1 or 2 minorities in each of my classes
@room4more that is wonderful! I am glad that you took the initiative to make a change and create consciousness about minority girls who want to pursue an education!
