I figured out that no thread had been created for the Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship for the 2019/2020 session; therefore, I decided to create one.
For those who are probably not aware, the Jack Kent Cooke scholarship we’re talking about here is the undergraduate transfer scholarship for community college students or recent graduates. The scholarship Foundation provides up to $40,000 for three years for each accepted community college student/graduate to further their education at a university where they will earn a bachelor’s degree. In addition to awarding this immensely generous scholarship, winners also become automatically eligible to apply for the scholarship for their graduate education.
The application has to be completed on Common App, and in addition to filling out an application, the applicant has to write a bunch of essays and turn in two academic letters of recommendation. An eligible applicant is one who has a minimum GPA of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00.
My fellow community college students and graduates, where are you? Please, contribute to this thread; let’s share our application experiences, encourage one another, and hope for the best!
If any of you would like to break the ice by sharing a little bit about yourselves, feel free to do so! You can use the following template, or just write normally.
Can’t speak much to the experience personally, but I do know someone with a JKC who ended up an Ivy League, did very well and qualified for prestigious graduate school fellowships.
@RainbowBritey , I’m very sorry, I never knew there was already a thread for this. Meanwhile, I searched and searched, nothing came up so I was surprised and decided to start one. I’m wondering; is there a way I can delete this thread?
Hey RainbowBritey, I tried deleting this thread, but it looks like there is no way to delete a thread created on College Confidential. This is my first time creating a thread here as well. I hope people move their comments over to your thread to make it more active.
Hey guys!! So glad to see everyone’s feeling same as me lol. I also got done with my interview and anxiously waiting for the results. I need help if any of you know the answer.
If I don’t get accepted to the listed schools but some other, will then I get a scholarship? Or is it only given to the students who are accepted in the schools they have listed in their scholarship question?
