Jackson Laboratory SSP (2013)

@tawarren95: thank you soo much! so just to clarify, I should put 4.25 out of max possible 4.0?

If that’s the max, then yes! My weighted GPA goes over the max 4.0 on a 4.0 scale, too.

@DraconicSheep I emailed JAX and they confirmed that applications are due 11:59pm on Feb 2

@LK5

Thank you!

How are you guys submitting GPA’s if there are no places for you to put it? I only put in the fields where it asks about every math and science related course that I’ve taken in the past three years.

They ask for your current GPA right under Academic Information, above your list of science and math courses.

That doesn’t make sense to say that you have a 4.25 on the 4.0 max scale. If it is truly a “maximum”, you should say you got a 4.25 on the 5 scale. They know what that means.

@readyfor2014: uh oh… i already submitted my app! @tawarren95, how did you format your app?

… I hope this doesn’t hurt anything…

I don’t think it’ll kill you, but it definitely will seem like a typo. If you say that the max possible GPA is 4, they might be asking, how can he get a 4.25? They might find it suspicious, especially because we didn’t send transcripts.

On the other hand, 4.25 out of 4.0 would indicate 4.25 is the weighted GPA.

is it due 11:59pm eastern time?

never mind

Ah, I feel like such a procrastinator right now…just submitted my app!

I just finished the whole application all today, can’t believe I didn’t spend more time on it! Oh well, now the long wait until “late March”.

never mind

Well, I’m almost done with my “research interests” essay; I just have to cut it down to 1800 characters… Next up: narrative essay! I will finish this!

Hi I just submitted my application as well and I was wondering how late they would accept letters of rec. Thanks for the help!

It DOES make sense that one could get a 4.25 on a 4.0 scale. Like someone else mentioned, they would (probably) take it as a clue that it’s weighted. A 4.25 on a 5.0 scale isn’t the same thing, the same way a 4.25 on a 6.0 scale is also different. Don’t sell yourself short. And if you’re ever applying and the system gives you an error, just put 4.0/4.0 and hopefully there’s a “weighted” option to choose. Either that or submit your unweighted.

If any application materials are going to be late, please send them an email and let them know. Don’t assume they’ll just shrug it off.

I submitted at 11:59 PM! Woohoo! I have this procrastination thing down to an art.
