I was just accepted to VT and JMU and I am really excited because I know these are amazing schools and they just so happen to be my top two schools!!

I think I am majoring in business (marketing) and I dont know what I should do.
I have been to JMU three times and loved it more each time I visit and I have been to VT once and fell in love. I am and OOS and I amd going to visit VT again soon.

Just in your opinion which school is better for business, I know JMU has a great business program but I dont know much about VT.

Just wondering what CC's opinon was.
Please help me because May 1 is closer than realize.
Thanks

VT, becasue of its more extensive graduate programs (it is classifified as a national research university versus being a Comprehensive Masters based university) has the better overall reputation, particularly if you were to ever leave the area.

Educationally, in terms of what will take place in your actual courses they are both the same with excellent programs and with JMU being particularly strong in accounting.

I would make my decision on which one you feel most comfortable with in terms of the campus environment.

I live in VA. JMU will be fine as long as you plan on staying in VA, but if you plan on moving somewhere else, I would choose VT. I once met some people from New York who had never heard of JMU, but they had certainly heard of Tech. I would choose Tech.

IMO there are only two undergraduate majors to consider for business, in this order:
acctg, finance. If you still want to go into marketing after graduation, you will have better business training and more “marketable” skills from these majors…take some elective marketing classes.
All other things being equal an acctg or finance major can do any marketing job. Few, if any, marketing majors can do a finance or acctg job.
Just my two cents, sorry to be off topic.

Did you create three different Va Tech vs. JMU threads under different accounts within 12 hours of one another? All three on the same day by posters with 10 or fewer posts. Wow.

For the record, a degree from JMU would be fine. I’d choose Tech because I like the campus and the area better, but that’s just a personal preference.
