James Scholar???

What is wrong with me? I got a 1460 SAT and had a 91% GPA in HS. Why was I not accepted into the LAS honors program? I called..they said to wait till mid-August for a decision. Should I call again and ask them what is going on? Anyone else think this is strange? :(

if not mistaken only 100 or so students are admitted into the honors program.

one of my friends applied last year and didn't get into honors engineering. he went a pretty good school in illinois, national merit, eagle scout, 1480 SAT/35ACT rank: 9/800+, tae kwon do etc... 10+AP's. didn't get in. he was also accepted by NW and Wash U.

he ended up going to NW.

For Engineering, all you need to be a James Scholar is one of the following: 1450 SAT or 33 ACT or top 1% high school class rank, which roughly corresponds to the top 15% of incoming freshmen. LAS doesn't seem to have a similar policy; their web site only states that "incoming students are notified of their eligibility by a letter from the dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences." It doesn't really matter though, because anyone can join with a 3.5 college GPA (3.3 for Engineering except ECE) after enrolling. The James Scholar Program is different from the Campus Honors Program, which only accepts about 125 people per year.
