jerseynbg, I feel your pain! We went right down to the wire, April 15th before we got the good news. Thank heavens our daughter decided to apply and was accepted Early Decision to her college. Now we have to get her through the last half of senior year!!!

Refer to OPNAVINST 1531.7 (24DEC2005) signed by VADM Harvey, DCNO for Manpower, Personnel, Training, and Education.

NOTE: There is no condition in which a seperated MIDN must serve AND pay.

thanks for the clarification - now go to sleep!

one other note on the plebe summer departures - the director of admissions said she talks to each one and she stated that the majority leave because they were not there for 'themselves' but had gone through the process for their parents/uncle/aunt/grandmother, etc.

^^^^^
I believe that conclusion. Based on my experience at the academy, I would say that just about everyone who attended the academy because of parents, relative, teachers, coaches, etc. ended up dropping out. It is paramount for parents to remember that their son/daughter has to be the one who wants to attend the academy.

Yes. And to play devil's advocate, this rationale is well publicized and convenient for confused teens whose parents are back home. What else might they say. I hate getting up in the a.m. I'm outta shape. I can't stand being bossed around. Etc.

For sure having a clearer idea of what the end-game is should help.

So.............anyone else want to share how their CVW was? :)

Also, didn't somebody mention the name of a airport shuttle from BWI----> Annapolis? I can't locate the thread.

Thank You.

jerseynbg, how did your son like his CVW? Which company was he in?

My son enjoyed the CVW immensely. He was with the 23rd company. He said running the obstacle course was a lot of fun and the midshipman he talked to were freindly and helpful.
