Cvw

I remember seeing some posts about this a long while ago, but I was wondering what poeple usually wear for visits to USNA....and I think there was some stuff about sleeping on cots without sheets? Any clarification/advice about this would be helpful- thanks! I am going on a visit (for track) this sept.

I have no clue, but do you have to be invited to cvw? If so, what does it take to be invited and has anyone been invited?

In the past:
No jeans, (khakis), collared shirt (polo-type is fine), real shoes (not sneakers). Neatly groomed (no mixmaster hair). Some will sleep on cots, some in real beds, depending on who your sponsor plebe is, and whether there is an extra rack in the company. (Bring a sleeping bag in case you get a cot with no linens).

Yes, you have to be invited. It's usually a very select few who do go. Being Triple Q'ed beforehand is a requirement. That means having the letter from USNA confirming you are Triple Q'ed. Even then it's pretty selective.

Getting an invite doesn't mean you'll get an appointment....and vice versa. I wasn't invited even though I was Triple Q'ed in October, and made it all the way to the final admission cut.

I forget if CVW is only for HS seniors, like NASS, though I'm pretty sure it is.

just a thought for rising juniors....if you are not invited to NASS, or CVW, consider attending a Navy sports camp during the summer- they also offered some camps this past year on the mid-winter(?) break...while it is not exactly the same as a "real" visit, you stay in Bancroft, eat in Kings Hall, and you are on the yard enough to see what goes on and what the Mids and Plebes are going through...more information to make an informed choice!
good luck!
