My son's SAT scores are:
660 Reading
720 Writing
720 Math

His Math II is 620
It's too bad MIT doesn't consider Writing, since his Writing score is better than Reading.
I know chances for MIT are very slim in any case, but wanted to get opinions on whether it would be better for him to retake Math II in Jan or the regular SAT.
Thanks

I would say to take the subject test Math2. 660 is not so bad score for CR, but I think that 620 in Math2 for MIT is low. At least that is my opinion.

I would definitely retake the subject test. I would also say not to take the MATH II test instead MATH I. MIT don’t care which math you take. I think MATH I is more similar to SAT I MATH, so he may do well on MATH I. Can he take both MATH I and MATH II at the same time?

"Can he take both MATH I and MATH II at the same time? "
Not in the same sitting.

I took I one day, and II another.
That’s possible.

U can take Maths 1 and Maths 2 at same setting

What was his science SAT score?

Thanks so much to everyone for the feedback!

I switched his registration so that he is now taking Math I and Math II.
“Can he take both MATH I and MATH II at the same time?”
Inconclusive, thanks so much for that suggestion; great idea! And, yes, he can and he will!

cgarcia, his Chemistry subject test score is OK (can’t remember exactly) and since he studied and took the test right after he completed the class, I think it would be really hard for him to improve it at this time, and he doesn’t have another science it would make sense to take at this time. (He’s taking Physics at community college spring semester.)
On the other hand, I think if he focuses on the math, he has a great chance of hitting it out of the ballpark, for either Math I or Math II, hopefully both!
Thanks again!

Good decision. Have him study as hard as he can between now and the day of the test.

Really? You can take them in the same sitting?
huh. Weird, I had no idea I was in error.
Thanks for that!
Wow!

sorry about that :(

AccountingCat, no problem! I had no idea either, until I asked.

PaperChaser, yes, he will be studying! Thanks.

If you are choosing one between Math I and Math II, I’d recommend Math II. The curve is less scary, and it allows you to get higher score given a certain amount of errors (Few people are perfect).
