Jan SAT test takers please look!!!

i got 7 wrong on the mc and a 11, which came out to be a 680. someone i know did the same on a previous test and got a 730. i was just wondering what people's subscores and overall score on the writing sec was so please help me out and post what you got...

i think this post will be better served on the SAT/ACT forum

i actually put it up there first but they just seem like junior high schoolers and freshmen freaking out about the sats.

MY friends got

MULTIPLE CHOICE: 68

Possible score: 20-80.
MULTIPLE CHOICE SCORE DETAIL

Number Right: 44, Number Wrong: 5, Number Omitted: 0, Total Number of Questions: 49, Multiple-choice Raw Score: 43
ESSAY: 9

Possible score: 2-12.

Total:680

actually i just checked my sat score reports and.....

i got -7 and an 11 on the essay the first time i took it and got a 680 (April 06).

i got -4 and an 11 on the essay the second time i took it and got a 730 (October 06).

That should clear up something hopefully. As i'm sure you know, the tests are curved slightly differently from one sitting to the next, so your friend probably had a test that was slightly harder and therefore had a more generous curve.

oh and zero omissions both times

Ergo, everyone goes by scores/percentiles, not raw number of questions answered correctly.

It's generally like that for the Writing section; there's a rather harsh curve for SAT Writing. Here are my scores from all the sittings that I took, if you want a reference.

January 2006: missed 5, omitted none, 10 essay = 690
June 2006: missed 5, omitted none, 10 essay = 690
November 2006: missed 7, omitted none, 11 essay = 680

there's an even harsher curve for the math test. miss two questions and you're usually down to a 750.

i got 1 wrong on the MC with no omitted and a 9 on the essay, my score was a 770

Ya, I agree on the math. I missed 1 and omitted none and got a 780. So, how do you get a 790?? Does any one know??
