January 2009 SAT Essay

Just out of curiosity since we can't discuss the question yet,

what examples did you guys use?

haha, I used Saturday Night Live and J.K. Rowling with Harry Potter... they were the first things that I thought up

do you guys think they'll deduct points if the examples aren't very scholarly?

i used JK Rowling as well

blink and romanticism here.

i think i interpreted my essay prompt incorrectly and its incredibly upsetting... contemplating whether to cancel or not.... :'(

Barack Obama and the rise of the iPods

how would harry potter and such help you with the topic.................... unless we all got different topics?

My topic: Planning affecting creativity

My examples: (Shakespeare, Sophocles, President Obama, and Plato)

I'm kind of confused.. I used science (discovery of double helix) and music

i talked about the wright brothers..

@ mirage,

how did yo u interpret it? you are making me nervous..

Romanticism! -poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings... recollected in tranquility-- why do you fail me at my time of need, wordsworth??

i used jk rowling and kobe bryant

the current economic crisis
lord of the flies

ok here is what i did. i am 99% sure its bulletproof.

MLK civil rights (history)- king planed a series of ornate speeches and orchestrated an alabama bus boycott

President Franklin Roosevelt(history)- - planned with his council of econ advisors to implement the new deal: a series of provisions that bolstered the economy.

The adventures of huckleberry fin(literature).- - Huck planned his death to escape the iron claw of his drunkard father. He felled a pig and spilt its innards and blood all over the cabin to emulate death.

My vocab was a bit extreme and possibly not applicable. Would anyone please tell me if my vocab was appropriate or bad? thanks in advance.

Wait now i'm very, very nervous I interpreted it wrong, and I was even concerned while I was writing it.

How off topic is it if I might have substituted "rules" for planning"? Like how rules affect creativity instead of planning? Score-canceling worthy?

I related the whole thing to different artists of dadaism because it's all I could think of.

Ghandi: "Emulate" seems weird but is technically correct, and that color seems out of place.

at paigeohono, if you made the connection between planning and rules, then you are okay.

ok guys i have a really important question
by mistake i started my essay on the second page, and then i continued on the first page.. but i made indications on both pages that the beginning is from the top of the second page (on the first page i wrote continued from second page, and on the bottom of the second page i drew an arrow to the first page)

will this hurt me? :(

omg... for the planning and creativity:
did i misinterpret it??
i used examples from literature and history and how characters/people who had to plan for things used creativity in their planning for success-- like how creativity is needed in plans to be successful, but my friends wrote about how planning limits/restricts the use of creativity... is this off-topic??
