If the Writing question that I probably missed was an experimental one, I may have got all the MC questions right (on the whole test). Alas, my fate might be in the hands of the essay graders.

^ I’d be surprised if your essay didn’t earn a double-digit score. I had an 8 as a sophomore taking the May '09 SAT, and my essay was so short that it barely exceeded one page, lol. Plus, I didn’t really use any historical/literary examples.

I’m still saying 800 CR 800 Math and ~770 Writing unless I got a 12 on the essay and no more MC wrong.

…so very likely. hehe.

man, you guys are geniuses lol.

This was my first time taking the SAT and I think I’m looking at around a 1900.

I only used one literary example and one anecdotal example.

The dropoffs from 8 to 10 to 12 are pretty pronounced here: <a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;

silverturtle–I used 1 literary and 1 historical/societal example.
Two developed examples are definitely better than 3 not-so-developed ones.
In fact, it may be more beneficial to use two rather than three, because you may not be able to develop all three properly in the space/time allotted.

Well, if what you say about the Writing is really correct (-1 MC and 11-12 essay), then an 800 looks pretty possible for me too.

800 M + 800 W + 760-780 CR (assuming that the 2 or so objections I had to the list of answers were all wrong) = 2360-2380

12 essay and -2 MC is 800 I think, so if I’m lucky I can get that 2400.
Hahaha. Not.

With my luck, something on that CR list is wrong.

I beg to differ. I often think I’m the one who has horrible luck. So I’m just going to assume that everything that differs from the answer list is wrong. Wait a second, I just realized that I don’t agree with FIVE answers, even though I know for sure I got two of them wrong (no disputing those), and the jury’s still out on the other three…

Better hope for a 730-760 at worst then… (730 being the score if this CR has a harsh curve, 760 if it has an easy one)

Ah well. I’m still really happy about Math, because that’s usually my weak point And Writing, too.

If I got all writing multiple choice questions correct, what’s the lowest essay score I can get to get an 800. What do you guys think about the rumor that if you fill both pages, there’s 90% chance you’ll get at least a 10?

Sometimes even a 9 will do the trick.

It’s not far from the truth. There’s even been a study done at MIT that shows a positive correlation between essay lengths and scores received.

I think that it’s pretty true, as long as you didn’t write complete BS and had somewhat good details and depth.

Based on today’s curve, can someone please tell me around what score I would get?

CR: -3 raw (-4 with penalty included)
M: -1 :[[[[[
W: -1 with a 10 essay

Cr: 760/770
m: 770/780
w: 790/800

got pwned by essay so no comment on writing(700 last time with essay 8…always wrote incomplete essays on SATs…not even close to finishing this time; spent 18min on outlining. being too thorough-==- excessive stupidity)

ma 800 (unless i bubbled wrong (like i did in psat…))

cr f!!! i thought it was easy but i made stupid mistakes HERE and THERE. probably ending up w a 690 with 8 wrongs and 0 omits! if only i could get 2 of them right…my cr would be 720

i hate those X90-ish scores!!! 690 is just 0.4 question(s) away from 700+ yet it looks so much more hideous.
and i got 790 on my sat physics too!!
my least favourite number is 9 for now.

if only i could concentrate more…

This is quite hard to predict but i guess i’ll give it a go

CR 730-750 (4 wronggg)
MA 800 (if i havent made any silly mistakes)
WR 700-730 (essay 10-12, i forgot my answers to the MC questions, but im certain i’ll get 4-5 wronggg)

Wow, I just realized I seriously messed up on CR.
Math - 770 (-1)
Writing - 800(11-12 essay, -1)
CR - 500 -740 (on the scientist passage I may have skipped the 1st question by accident, and if that’s true, then all my questions for that passage may be wrong. (-11/-12), best case scenario is -4 raw points.

Best Case:
CR: (-4 raw) 750
M: (-3 raw) 740
WR: (-4 raw,10 or 11 essay) 740
Total: 2230

Do these seem about accurate? Do they correspond about correctly in a best case scenario?

@lakersfan72
CR: -4 = 770
M: -1 = 780
W: -1 with a 10 essay = 800
total: 2350
obviously it might be somewhat above/below these estimates.
