January 2011 - Biology (E/M)

please Help :S
i want Raw score of Biology E/M ? (more accurately)

@BiologySATII Depending on the curve, a -5 is probably a 780-90. BTW I can tell by your name that you joined today.

which makes a 50-55 raw.???
30-35 ??? please please

When do the scores come out?

also what did you get for the question that was like

algae –> sea urchin –> other thing

what about Questio :
Kingdom charactrized by Eukaruot , have cell membrane and heterotroph ???

^fungi

cause they said cell walls from chitin.

for algae – whatever – whatever, i think that it was the algae was a primary producer.

So about the startling question, introducing a new species seems to be the only answer choice that affects the entire population.
The virus, like BiologySATII said, is only where startlings congregate, or where they meet together in groups not the entire species. It only affects a certain population of it. It a group (or population) of startlings were infected with the virus, the rest of the members in the species are still alive…
To sustain the species, you’re most likely to introduce another species to bring competition

hopefully i am right

wow this is late but
for mendel i put all 3 because he came up with the laws of dominance, segregation, and independent assortment.
for the biogeochemical cycle, i put that there is a finite amount of nutrients in the world because not all biogeochemical cycles involve organic compounds (i.e. the nitrogen cycle)
and for the leaf question i put that the alcohol converted the starch to glucose, but now i dont remember why…

what would wrong wrong (-4) be? probs 790-800, right? LET’S HOPE FOR A BIG CURVE GUYSSSS

i don’t remember the exact wording but it was something about sustaining the species of startlings

how does it work when you start the sat II biology test? do you choose which biology test you are going to take (e/m)? can you take both on the same day?

It’s hard!! I omitted 1 (the linked genes, I have no idea what it is!)and guessed a lot so I think I am screwed.

How many questions we can get wrong for a 700? I self-studied all of them and PR and Barroon became my text book lol.

k, here is a little summary

1.for the last one - i said new species from a foreign country to compete with the starlings? Virus could possibly kill ALL of them which decreases the diversity? (Ok I am completely comfused…)
2.Kidney -remove waste
3.Enzymes…could someone pls tell me what the options are? I completely forgot…
4.Dead cells -xylem

I spent so much time on the chromosomes. I so should just leave those blank…
5.The chromosomes mom gave…24
6.Somatic - I put 23…cos Im stupid… (so the right one is 48?)
7.abnormal…49, I thought it was a zygote? (If not so then it’s 25)
8.Carry minerals -Blood plasma
9.Red blood cells
10.Antibodies-White blood cells
11.pollen produced - anthor or sth?
12.fertilization occurs - ovary
13.Hardy equiation -4%
14.Boiling in alcohol- remove the green pigment(this one I am very sure XD)
15.1935-1945 ,cos it has the biggest area?
16. dark blue - the leaf creates carbohydrates.
17. Blood A&B - aggulinate
18. Mendel - all of them
19. swimming =1 flying = 2&3 grasping = 6 (agreee)
20. biogeochemical cycling question - I put the nutrients are limited? (So it is probably wrong again.)
21. huddling,shivering,counter current exchagne - thermo
22. algae –> sea urchin –> other thing - algae was a primary producer.

so far… 1 omitted, 4 wrong

I believe the wording was how to “control” the (either biodiversity or starlings). In which case introducing an exotic species or introducing a lethal virus would hardly give the scientists much control over the situation. :\ I think I put down the trapping the starlings option.

Is anyone absolutely certain of the answer to “why is there a gap of ~a few days between the introduction of a foreign substance and mass production of an antibody for it” ??

when do scores come out?

edit: nvm just found out, in 19 days.

http://sat.collegeboard.com/scores/</a></p>

Does the kidney make red blood cells? (because i thought that was one of the choices, but i dont remember the kidney having that function)

^ No, they’re made by bone marrow.

Was there a question like “which of the following function is the liver NOT responsible for”

I was debating between “makes red blood cells” and something to do with the amino acids/urea (???) I chose the latter. Anyone else remember this question?

^ I remember the question asking something like “Which of the following functions does liver dialysis replace?”

I could be misremembering the question, but I know that I put something related to removing waste materials.

i remember ur question^^^^. it was to do with removing the metabolic waste or it was the urea choice. couldn’t decide…in the end metabolic waste made sense to me><
