I got a 229 on the PSAT and I’m planning on taking 3-4 practice tests over the break. Aiming for the 2300+;
I heard January curve is more generous? Is this true?

The curve correlates to the questions of the test, not the month of the year …

I heard that many people who take the test in January are 8th graders (for CTY) and seniors who are trying to get in their scores last minute. And as a result, the curve is less harsh. However, I’m not so sure how true that statement is.

Took the SAT in November, signed up for January.
720 M
750W
650 CR

Looking to bring up CR about 100 points and 20-30 each for W and M.
I have already gone through BB and I am currently working through Direct Hits.
Did all of the practice tests in McGraw Hill…math was filled with errors.

Any suggestions for more practice tests that are of value?? And has anyone used the online college board program??

@tongxiang77, the curve is pre-determined and is based on the difficulty of the test and not on the quality of the test takers.

the most important thing for me at this point is to just relax when i take the test. over the summer i did so many practice tests yet i was extremely nervous on the actual test date that my hands were trembling when i was doing the essay section. still its quite challenging that i have to be relaxed while i have to be sorta desperate to really get the most out of me.

Bull. The curve is pre-determined. The curve relates to the difficulty of the test.

Theoretically, everyone taking the January SAT could get a 2400.

31 days to go!
…****

I’ve been studying consistently for the past week, especially attacking CR (which has always been my fatal point). I got 800M 730 W and 680 CR in the Nov test this year. Like many fellow CCers I’m trying to get a 2300+. That depends on whether I can get a 11/12 essay and less than 3 wrong on CR.

Im taking it as well Im getting 2200-2350 on my practice tests and my worst is CR. -.-
i always narrow the possible choices down but i always choose the wrong one… oh the luck i have.
Im trying to get
750+ CR
800 M
770-800 W

GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL :)

This will be my first ever SAT! What would you guys say would be the ideal mind set going into the test? How can I achieve this mind set? LOL, I really don’t want to panic,

Manage your time and don’t be intimidated by the test is definitely something you need to be good at in order to focus.

I’m taking it! (:

This will be the second and last time I’m taking it. Aiming for a 2300 (800M, 750W, 750CR). I have a tendency to lose focus throughout the test though, and I think that’s what made me lose quite a few points on my first SAT towards the end. Anyone has tips on how to concentrate (especially for CR?)

I’m taking it. Goal is 700+ CR, 780+ M, 800 W after a 73 CR, 80 M, 80 W on the PSAT w/ no studying.

I’m a sophomore, I just last month (or the month before…idk) got my PSAT results. I got a 153 (CR 54, M 51, W 48) total. Very bad… Does this mean I’m expected to get a 1530 on the SAT? I am most likely going to be taking the January 28 SAT. I have the CB Blue Book. I’m worried! What else should I be reviewing besides the blue book?

NJ, I don’t see why you would take the SAT as a sophomore, especially considering that your scores aren’t astronomical. I stroooonnnggly urge you to give yourself some time to prepare before taking the SAT.

Got a 2340 on a practice test…if I can stop the stupid mistakes and get some luck, then ill try for that coveted 2400 xD

Stupid vocab though… D:

Sent from my SGH-T959V using CC App

I’m taking an SAT right now - this is my 5 minutes break - and I’ll share my results.

how about we start posting tough writing questions for practice. I can start. Its an official question.

The two centers of the (immense) biological diversity on Earth are tropical ecosystems, which (support) almost (unbelievable) large numbers of plants and animals, and islands, which (by their isolation promote) the rapid evolution of unique life forms. No error

In the fifteenth century, Leonardo da Vinci suggested that defective vision (can be corrected) (by placing) a lens (in direct contact) (with) the eye. No error

Error at C, should be “unbelievably” since it’s an adverb modifying “large”.

Not sure of the second one, is it “No error”?
