How is everyone studying for it?
Do you guys feel ready?

I’m just going to take 2-3 practice tests from the blue book over the break, along with working a few extra writing problems, as that seems to be my worst section. I’ll probably take another practice test the week before, then I’ll just relax after that.

Obviously, I’m not going hardcore into studying, although I am worried. I got a 197 on my PSAT (with no prep) and a I REALLY want a 2100+. We’ll see how it goes :

I’m feeling pretty confident since I got a 227 on my PSAT. I was NOT expecting to do that well, so it was a really nice surprise. :)

I’m going to do 3-4 practice tests out of BB over break. I already do the SAT QOTD. Shooting for 2250+.

I’m gonna do a bunch of practice tests mainly… the blue book is my savior, especially with the grammar in the writing section.
It’s worth noting that the January SATs are actually the weekend after my high school’s midterms… so that’ll be some week.

I’m taking it.

I took one practice test a few weeks ago and got a 2150-2120 depending on the essay (770 CR, 700 M, 680-650 W). I realized that for the math, every single wrong question was a careless error caused by the fact that I wrote (nearly) nothing down, but I finished each section in half of the time. Obviously now I know I can slow down, and that I should probably write down more than I feel I need to. As for the writing, I’ve heard that just requires practice.

I’m going to go through the “How to Write a 12 Essay in Just 10 Days” over break and do some practice tests. This will be my first time taking this test and I’m hoping that I get a 2250+ so that I don’t have to take it again if I don’t want to.

I have the Friday before (as in, the day before) off from school, so I will definitely get some time to relax beforehand.

I’m taking it!
I’m studying over the break because I probably won’t have much time once school starts…
I have never taken the SAT before and I am absolutely terrified…I went into my PSAT without studying and got 217, but my friends told me that the SAT is pretty different
Any advice on which book to use? I only have the blue one

That math section is really creaking me out I got 700+ on the other two but a 510 for math on the pre-test. And after going back I realized most of them were stupid mistakes from rushing. I guess the more I practice with the bluebook/online course the better it will get. But yeah is it worth it to get barrons?

Been studying since november…learning new words taking practice tests etc. I am getting more confident as the day passes. I still have 5 more BB tests and have one PDF of a retired test administered a few years ago to use. I am aiming for 2300+. I took a practice test the other day(another retired one from a couple years ago), and got a 2380! Much higher than I expected. Hopefully when I take another BB test, I score around the same. Usually get around a 2200

-Knowing high frequency and Direct Hits Vocab has me locked down on fill ins…they are no problem anymore.
-Math is just a stupid error game a crapshoot if a question bounces your way or not at this point.
-Writing is simple enough, I am basically scoring an 800 each time on this, it is one of my strengths. Just knowing when to put NO ERROR is the key to doing better.
-CR Passages are the big thing here. In BB tests, I have found that I will go through 2 whole sections of CR and get just 1 wrong, but bomb the last one. It happened to me a couple times but I am improving.

-30 days and a break along with it is a lot of time to do some intense studying…my main concern is running our of Practice Tests at this point.

I’m taking it. First SAT ever. Scary.

I got a 214 on the PSAT (I thought that test was brutal, by the way :/) but my practice tests over the past couple weeks have been in the 2260-2300 range. Gonna go HARD this next month. 2-3 practice sections a day in hopes of finishing 8 full practice tests total by Jan. 28th. Pretty much set on CR, need to bring my math up a bit and get more consistent on the writing section.

(To clarify, I got through the BB over the summer, currently doing the Online SAT Practice Course, which I highly recommend)

Do you guys realize that you’re all about to getting amazing scores? How does it feel to be able to get 2200+ without much studying… I hate you all.

I started at 1650 on practice tests… I had to work so hard just to get it up around 2000…

I know that feel, bro.

What is the “Direct Hits” vocabulary? Where do you find it?

Direct hits is a godsend for the Critical Reading Section. It contains the most frequently used SAT vocab words. So by studying the books (Volume 1 and 2) you’ll most likely all right in the sentence completion.

[Amazon.com: Direct Hits Core Vocabulary of the SAT: Volume 1 2011 Edition (9780981818450): Larry Krieger, Ted Griffith: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Direct-Hits-Core-Vocabulary-SAT/dp/0981818455/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1324611865&sr=1-1)

Here’s what I’m hoping for:
M- 700
CR- 750
W-800 (12E)

I haven’t been studying College essays have been taking up my time, but I’m still hoping for 2260 (710 Cr, 750 M, W 800)

i took october SAT and then PSAT too. i actually got a lower score on PSAT, which was quite discouraging somehow.

hope i can get +2300 this time and just get over with this test

^ Same. December, my first one, turned out to be dissapointing. But it game me some great experience so that I wont feel nervous on the next one. With alot of studying, hopefully we can pull off that 2300.

Last practice test: M 770, CR 680, W 740
I just want to get reading to 720

Oh, got a 201 on the PSAT, so I’m feeling pretty confident. Goal is a 2200, but that’s just cause I’m an overachiever.
Helps that a perfect math is well within reach for me, and I feel a million times more confident in the writing than I did on the PSAT.
