***January 2014 - Math Level 2***

@Hawkace, I’d personally retake anything below a 790. Up to you, though.

Guys sorry, you may think that I’m a dumb (Probably I am) but I really couldn’t understand what’s the real curve for this test. I haven’t received my score yet, so I am very nervous. I have left blank 7, and I am pretty sure I wrote everything else correctly. I was wondering if I could get 790?

Is 780 really a bad score? Ugh. I don’t want to retake it but if it will help me get better colleges, then I will.

@tommypacker Can I ask why you retook the test when you got a 780?

@hawkace I retook it because most of the people I talked to got an 800, and I felt like if a lot of people got 800s, then I wouldn’t look as good. Also, I knew I had the ability to do it as long as I focused on it

Is the percentiles given by the score range or your actual score? If so, how is it that a 780 is only in the 76th percentile?

@Hawkace

It’s pretty clear, when it says on the bottom:

National: x
The national percentile for your score indicates that you did better than x% of the national group of college-bound seniors.

Also, the actual percentiles are a lot harsher than any chart online I found.

Yeah. I know. Colleges don’t look at percentiles though, right? This seems sketchy. People who got 800’s, what is your national percentile?

@BassGuitar

I think a table says 800 is 85%. That only says if you don’t get 800, you’re below 85% who took the test.

because if you get 800, you can’t tell if you’re 99 or 85%. :x

So, let me translate these percentiles. Basically, a 800 is in the 99-100 percentile and a 780 is in the 91 percentile/

i don’t think 790 needs a retake.

@youngbin1130, if you take it again in May, study Barron’s book. Do those tests. If you’re stuck, read the chapter before the test, or come to CC to ask for help. If you do all barron’s tests, you’ll do well.

Do we ever get to know how many errors we do in the test? Like a grade sheet of telling what ques we did wrong.

No. That’s what really sucks.

@arpitkalla

Guys I have received an email about my score report. but I haven’t received it yet. is it a bag or something?

@Zhirayr have you received your score by now?

Unfortunately no, I haven’t. I’m still waiting :((( I’m trying to guess my score by trying to find the curve. However I can’t. All I can do is wait.

I assume the email was sent to everyone. I received it today as well. I am afraid you will have to keep waiting.

Yuuup…

Do we get a hard copy of our report as to send for application?? (btw i am an international student)

@arptikalla Scores are sent to the schools you listed by Collegeboard directly. You don’t send them. As far as I know, you don’t get a hard copy for SAT subject tests.
