***January 2014 - Math Level 2***

Dafuq? According to this, I’m in the 78th percentile with a 780:

Sorry my keyboard had a malfunction, I got a 760 without studying at all. I think I am done, I heard 750 + is good enough for ivies.

@Matthew5 What does OPLL mean?

Im thinking about the ivys like cornell and upenn and then top schools like johns Hopkins. …I still don’t have a set SAT score but I want to know what to target. .thanks

@hawkace well you’re in the 85th percentile with a score of 800.

Can someone explain why 800 is 85th percentile…cuz thats just not right

I think it’s because so many people receive a score of 800 on math II. If you look at the explanation above the chart, it says a 600 for literature - 43 means that 43% of people scored lower than that, so it probably means that 85% of people scored lower than a 800… which makes me even more depressed.

790! Retook from a 700 last June. I’m ecstatic. Not aiming for Ivies, is it enough for UCLA and USC?

I have a quick question. Do Ivies super score the subject test scores? Like let’s say you got a 740-790 on a subject and want to retake it, do they see only your highest score?

Only Ivies who require Subject tests see all of you subject test scores. But, those who only recommend it superscore your scores. I.E. Stanford- <a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University;

Btw, I believe that you got a 790, right? There’s no point in retaking it because as most people said, 750+ is good enough for everything including Math Level 2. I got a 780 and I’m not going to retake it and instead, I’m gonna study and take a different subject test

P.S. Don’t believe that Collegeboard bullcrap. I just realized that colleges don’t look at percentiles given by Collegeboard, so don’t worry. I’m in the same position as you.

So is a 760 like an ok score for college? I really don’t want to retake

@doctator 760 is a pretty decent score. Unless you are applying to Caltech or MIT, you don’t have to retake. I got a 780 and I’m still gonna apply to both of those colleges so it is not imperative that you need to get a 800.

What was the raw score needed for an 800?

@Hawkace Thank you for making me feel a lot better about it. Now that I think about it, I don’t think I’m going to retake it. I still have to take the SAT one more time, ACT, and few other subject tests, so I should use that time to study for all these other tests. But what would you say about the Chem subject test (I know this is off-topic but I really want to know)? If it is below 750, should I retake it?

It really doesnt matter for chem anything above 700 is usually ok cuz chem is really tough so like a 720 is still a big thing.

Got a 800! I skipped one and got two wrong.
Personally, I do not recommend Barrons, Kaplan, Princeton Review. Blue book is enough and most importantly, pay attention in your Pre-calc class!

Time to study for SATII Chemistry for May. Does anybody have tips?

Sparknotes is completely wrong about the curve, there’s no way CB’s as nice as Sparknotes makes it seem. My estimates for the previous 2 tests have put me in the low 700s.

@iamkimj

I used Barron’s SAT chem for sat chem last year for about two months and scored a 790 on the may exam!

I got a 750 before and got an 800 this time. I really was just mentally unfit to take the test I think. The most important thing that changed this time around was that I just wanted to do it for myself whereas before I couldn’t stop shaking and thinking about what the test meant for my future. I used Barron’s and took the tests out of the official CB Math 1 and Math 2 book. I’m super happy even though I know it’s not a big deal compared to everyone on here, but no one from my school has gotten this score in years, and I’m now considering MIT and Caltech. I hope the bio test will be kind to me!

I got an 800 by doing Barron’s review this time around compared to the 780 I got without studying. Also another reason I think I did better was because I focused solely on this time, whereas the first time I took it, I really focused in on Chemistry and put the Math II to the back
