ahh hoping to finish the test this time… the curve better be generous :(

I can leave writing and math blank for all I care lol, I just want a 700 reading and good superscore

Good luck to all y’all. I’ll be taking the SAT in March so still got a little longer to prepare ;)

hoping for at least a 1300 CR+M for Georgetown. I’m in range for CR but my math score is dragging me down, even after so much prep. I think I can pull a 2000 composite if I got like a 10+ on my essay. However, that’s easier said than done. Good luck to everyone one Saturday and hopefully the efforts pays off.

Also taking January SAT…

Hoping for 2200+, if better.

I think focusing is my problem…

I am not taking responsibility for it – don’t be the person who messes it up for everybody

@MITquantum 2090 on my first attempt

First time taking it, been practicing for a while now…

Scoring 700+ consistently in math, 550+ in CR, 650+ writing considering 10 essays. I need 2000+, help? i have 4 more days

Last years January 2013 SAT was not the best. The critical reading section was extremely difficult. I’m afraid the same thing is gonna happen this year.
Does anyone have any tips for critical reading? I’ve been practicing for a while, but each time I don’t know an answer or get an answer wrong I get really mad!! I’m afraid The passages are gonna be extremely boring and hard that i’m not gonna know anything! :(

Go with your first instinct and don’t make assumptions! Those are the reasons I get my answers wrong. For the long passages that are mainly composed of questions that cite specific lines of the reading (95% of the questions of that passage), try answering them in order without reading the entire passage. I tend to get them right doing it that way and I’ll read the surrounding lines, if need be. Once you answer all those, you’ll have a general idea of what the passage’s main idea is and you can answer the few questions that relate to the passage as a whole. I find this saves a lot of time for me.

I am so afraid of the essay. I rarely get better than a 6 out of 12 when I practice. How do I write better essays? I literally can never think of good examples, and I suck at faking them.

I’m planning on going through all the questions I got wrong in the Bluebook from now until Thursday. I also plan on going through PWN THE SAT Math Guide again right before test night(passively.) In between I want to do 3 math sections + 1 CR per day. Is this a good idea or will I get burnt out?

^ I think that’s perfectly legitimate. Just make sure that you don’t strain yourself too much the night before. Even if your focus is directed towards math, make sure to keep up with cr and writing also.

Wow DaneBrick almost same here 2100 in first attempt

Guys how do you suggest taking one or two practice tests this close to the test day

If I were to have the time to take a full length practice test I would, but I’m probably just going to look over old ones. If you have the time, then you should take a full test, timed.

Sigh. From practice tests (And I haven’t been doing as many as I wanted to), I am usually scoring around 700 Math and 700 CR, but I don’t practice Writing as much and I have gotten scores anywhere from 610 to 660 with an 8 on the essay. Right now I am just reading the SAT Prep Black Book by Mike Barrett, looking for strategies. Hopefully I can improve Writing to a 700 by January 25th. My goals are around 740+ for Math if I stop making careless sign mistakes, and my goal for CR is around 730+. This will be my first time taking the SAT, but I will try to not be so nervous in the upcoming days, and just try to get a good night’s sleep every night with a good breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, as well as practicing with maybe another Blue Book test or two.

Yeah I think I am on the same page as you Cosmological. Lets all hope for the best. :)

Write them out in the test booklet and read them aloud.

I had my failed attempt at breaking 2200 last December… Because of that failure I ended up taking a practice test everyday during winter break. Honestly, if you complete all the test in the blue book your score will go up at least 100 points. “YOU NEED TO REST BEFORE THE DAY OF THE TEST” saying is a bs. You and I both know that we will perform better on the real test by doing a practice test a day before to ensure us that we are ready. I, personally, will go over my direct hits vocab, tips and tricks on tackling questions, then take a practice test, and review what I got wrong along with my past test mistakes. Also I will not eat a large dinner, cuz I might get a stomach ache during the test. Good luck everyone!
