January 26 2008 Audition

Hi…i was wondering who was going to be at the auditions this saturday at the school? OR for those of you who have already auditioned…how cold is it? Like “I should wear 12 layers” cold or “if i put on a parka i’ll be fine” cold?

Oh and also for those of you who have auditioned, have you had problems with accompianists? Because i’ve heard rumors about bad accompianists and its somewhat nerve-wrecking.

Hi. Break a leg next weekend! My D did have trouble with the accompanist, who stopped playing in the middle of her song - but D just kept singing. The faculty member took over and played her song for her and she sang the whole way through - so since they have students acting as accompanists, they'll get the job done one way or the other. I wouldn't stress about that.
Yes, it was cold, but fun cold!! Layers, boots, wool socks, hat - you'll be fine. The parking is right across the street so there is not a time where you'll be outside for long, unless you want to be!

We will be there - so I guess it's "Princess" weekend LOL! I'm just hoping the plane can land on a runway without snow and ice!!! Gllad you asked the question about 12 layers or a parka. I keep reading stories about wind and snow and walking up a hill. Should be fun in audition heels.

well considering im your daughter momofaprincess (which is why i put princess in my name) i already knew you would be there.
thanks sualabama, its good to know that if the accompianmist is REALLY bad the judges will be able to see its them not me

See?? She's not only talented - she has a great sense of humor! :)

Y'all are too cute!! Look forward to meeting you both somewhere along the way!

I'll be there!

AM Session!

Syrso.....BREAK A LEG!!!! Have fun at the audition!!!

Thanks so much! At this point I feel like I really need it!

I was at the 26th audition. PM session Group A (the only boy).

I thought it went pretty well. It was my first college audition so I thought it was pretty intense.

Good luck everyone!

So far I've heard of people being expected to do either one or two songs from the get-go (not call-backs or extras), and people being auditioned with one and two auditors in the room during this audition season. Also, apparently there is an auditor who appears to be very depressed as he listens to you--whether due to the student pianist, was not obvious. The audition was great, especially the dance, and Syracuse was great, but it appears everyone has a different audition experience. Interesting!

Depressed? I think it is just that some adjudicators do their best not to reflect on their faces what they are thinking. Perhaps others also are more naturally reticent. My D found everyone at the Syracuse audition to be super friendly and nice.

Had a GREAT experience.

Really I did.

I sang two songs, did one monologue, and of course, Dance with Tony.

I've worked with Tony before (as, if you couldn't tell by the user name, I reside in syracuse) and everything he does is FUN. It's challenging, but it's meant to be that way just to see who can keep up, who keeps trying, and who will throw in the towel right away. It's all about getting to know the student, I think.

I really liked the way Syracuse handled their audition process, and I have GOT to say, their rank, in my book, has skyrocketed.
All in all, a wonderful first experience.

I for some reason get the feeling the big dogs at Unifieds this weekend are NOT going to be as nice......

But, best of luck to all!
Thanks for all the help!
