I guess a 9 essay and 4 mistakes would be like a 730? (W)

What about CR?

i don't know, the math was a lot harder than what it usually is.

BTW, someone was mad about getting 3 wrong on math and getting 720, i got 1 wrong and got a 770, which is a lot more annoying.

Though, this time i only got 1 wrong (I think) so i think i should get 790 since it's harder.

I hope it's that way. I think I only got one wrong (though I don't really know).

Can you miss a CR question and still get 800? Because on one of the sentence completions, I put moribund where I should've said picayune.
Who uses a word like picayune? I mean seriously, I'd never freaking heard that in my life.

WHY DOES ENGLISH HAVE TO HAVE SO MANY FREAKING WORDS???!!!!!?!?!

stewie314 - you can usually miss one and get an 800 cr.

Also, the only reason why I got picayune was spanish (it finally helped). Pica means small and unimportant in spanish, so I was like, must be PICAyune.

lol I know Spanish too I was thinking Picante.. spicy what? lol :P

lol i was thinking of picometers.

Believe it or not, I had the word "picayune" this year in one of the sections in my vocabulary book. I immediately knew I had had it, but I couldn't remember what it meant. At the end I was between that and benign, and luckily I put picayune. =)

O man, I was going to pick picayune because of the whole spanish thing also, but I wasnt sure so I chose moribund. Dumb me.

I got picayune(spanish last year), but got trenchant, diatribes and cathartic wrong :(. Hopefully I won't get many others wrong, and I can still get 740+. Was it volcanos or overfishing for the black hole? Ive heard arguemnts for both.

The volcano vs. overfishing vs. air pollution one we probably won't know for sure until scores are released and somebody has hard evidence. This one is so up in the air... I put air pollution because I succinctly remember the word "adjacent" was in the answer choice. And I thought I thought the passage was saying that scientists had thought that blackholes don't affect surrounding galaxies, but in actuality they really do. The tip off there, for me at least, was surrounding.

Me and my friend are sticking to overfishing though, since black holes destruction and star creation are analogous to overfishing and helping lesser organisms.

Ugh, I thought of picayune and pequeno, poco, pica, all that jazz.. but, i went for indelible because of some vague remembering of details and stuff like that. it always seems when narrowed down to two, most, myself included, choose the wrong...

Im pretty sure it was overfishing. At first i put volcano but I went back an reread the section. The passage said that black holes are very destructive but at the end, black holes were related to the growth of stars. So the analogy of overpollution or overfishing (whatever it was) that led to growth of more fish visits the logic.

Wait.. so were diatribes, trenchant and cathartic answers to the sentence completions? I put those down.

change the word "visits" to "fits" in my last post.... dont know what i was thinking.

Nice work physics08. I just want 1500 on the first two parts. I think I got 800 on math, and like 730 on C.R., so hopefully ill meet my goal. And I agree with your reasoning on overfishing.

I hope to get above 700 on all the sections too. I think I did alright in CR, but I know I made some stupid mistakes in Math/Writing. This was also my first real SAT test; however, I am NOT looking forward to taking it again. >.< If I get 2250+, I think I'll be happy. Unfortunately, I don't know if that's possible at the moment.

BTW, it is definitely volcano. ;]

Eh...I still don't think so. I just don'y get the reasoning. Expalin it to me? Maybe I'll get it then. :)

Lol, I'm sure the debate has come up more than enough times in the other SAT topics. I don't want to change this topic into another one of those. ;p
But just really quickly - volcano affects rain in OTHER continents.
