This is my first post on CC so sorry if I posted this in the wrong section or something!

I am planning on taking the general SAT in January for the first time (I am a junior), and I have heard quite a few different rumors about the test. Some people tell me that the test tends to be easier (as in there is a better curve) and others say that it's harder.

I obviously am preparing as well as I can regardless of what I've heard but I was just curious as to whether any of these rumors are true. In theory, shouldn't all of the SAT tests be around the same level?

dude, curve depends upon the level of test, a easy test will have a steep curve, i.e if you make a mistake on easy test in say maths section, your score might drop to 760, while on a tough one it will drop to a 790. so there’s no such month when you can say that curve is not steep but paper is easy or vice versa

Yes, but people say that there is a trend in the level of difficulty of the January test. Some people say that it’s always the one with one of the biggest curves. I’m asking whether this is true or not.

if it were true then very less people would register for SAT in January and collegeboard will suffer huge , since is not the case we can safely assume that your hypothesis is nothing more than a rumor started by people getting less scores in January test
